Header bolt question..Yes I searched..

I have a set of slp tri y headers and need a set of bolts to hook it up to the engine. The only problem is that on each header, two of the bolts holes have lips raised like 3/4". Anyone know what to do or where to get a set? Thanks

I'm not 100% certain I know what you mean, but it may possibly be so you can use the stock alternator and a/c compressor support bracket?

well, not 100% sure yet, but a friend said I am supposed to use the studs for brackets in these locations. Still, if anyone knows more please help, Thanks!

Re: Header bolt question..Yes I searched..

My serp set-up requires two spacers for proper fitment (see the link below for pics). Perhaps SLP has simply built the spacer into the header. If the latter is the case, you'd simply need longer bolts. I 'believe' the following is correct: Pass side 3/8-16 x 3.25 and driver's side 3/8-16 x 2.75

Re: Header bolt question..Yes I searched..

Those are the headers, they are at my guy's shop now so pics couldn't be had quickly, but I had these. The bolt holes with the extended tubes can be seen on the header on the left, above the third tube from the bottom. You can see one on the right header just above the third tube from the bottom. Thanks for all the replies so far!

Re: Header bolt question..Yes I searched..

your not going to find a set of bolts with a couple longer ones. Measure the extension tubes and buy long bolts as needed. Allen head will work best because of the lack of clearance to the header tube. Use regular 3/8x1 bolts for the rest, again, a 12pt or allen head would be best

Re: Header bolt question..Yes I searched..

I bought stage 8 locking header bolts that are 3/8-16X3/4". Will they work on the other bolts or do I need the 1" bolts? Thanks for the help!

Re: Header bolt question..Yes I searched..

i have slp's other headers, and they have a 3/8 flange, not sure what your have, but its most like the same. 3/4 bolts are not long enough. They only leave 3/8" past the flange, then once the header gasket is there, your left with 1/4", not enough thread. You will need 1" if they have 3/8 flanges.

Re: Header bolt question..Yes I searched..

I have SLP headers on my 90 TPI, on the forward drivers' side, the raised "tube" is to provide a standoff for an alternator support bracket that goes to the back of the alternator. uses the double-ended hex stud.

on the passenger side, i recollect the fwd middle one was for an AC compressor bracket support.

Re: Header bolt question..Yes I searched..

I had the same issue you're having with MY slp headers. ...I ended up simply buying (as stated earlier) longer allen head bolts, and THEN using a lock washer.

....I've never had issues with those bolts backing out.
