Pics of tailpipes

Hey guys,

Ive booked my car in to have a full stainless system done at the end of august, woohoo! the place can pretty much do anything so hes asked if i want chrome tips, round square or just a certain style of exit pipe.

I know exactly what i want but i wanted a picture to take to him if possible. What im after is pretty much the stock system but straight exit pipes that have the diagonal cut at the end of the pipe if you know what i mean ? so they arent hanging right out the back, but just enough if you look slightly under the bumper so you think ,yeah thats real nice but subtle.

If anyones got their tail pipes like that can you post some pictures, thanks !

Kinda like yours Chevydrvr thanks, although im thinking of having them not sticking out the back of the bumper, a little bit more discreet as per KITT.

Re: Pics of tailpipes

Yeah pretty much like that, basically the stock set up ! i was wanting the exit pipes to be straight though, although thinking about that i think they would really be on show then and im not sure if it would look good or not

You said " What I'm after is pretty much the stock system ".Does that mean that your not going to upgrade to a 3in. pipe while you have the chance? Or did I not read that correctly.

In my opinion? If you have ground effects on your firebird or camaro these are the only exhaust tips that should go on.

Re: Pics of tailpipes

No it'll be a 3 inch system all the way through, connected to my hooker headers that should be here in the next few weeks i was meaning i want it to look like the factory system, no huge pipes sticking out the back or anything like that.

Nick, that is pretty much dead on what i want it to look like, although ive got no GFX on my car with it being a KITT replica, but something along those lines would be ideal, thanks a lot.

same here ! i just hope to god my headers turn up soon so i can make sure the car still runs, it hasnt been cranked over for about 4 months now while ive been doing loads of work on it. in theory it should be fine because all i have done is take the ignition leads off and the stock manifolds and unplugged a few wires here and there........fingers crossed !

Less is more. Flowmaster Force II catback, single in single out. The pipe tucks just below flush with the bumper line. I dig the stock look of not being able to see it. Had 3.5" Chrome slashcuts for years, liked them, but they hit on the driveway every time.

Re: Pics of tailpipes

well Nick i think he matched your style of tailpipes perfectly, exactly what i wanted ! i think they stick out the back a bit too much but thats probably because im so used to KITT having the stock exhaust tucked away. i did start a new thread about it but just wanna say thanks to Nick again

i'll be running the stock magnaflow tips for now, but i've always found the square LT1-style tips seem to fit the lines of these cars nicer than round tips.

Not as classy as some of the tips shown here but I found that I could get the heard but not seen effect to "some" degree with the 80 series Flowmaster if you cut them back about 6in.

Kinda wish I had the dual rectangle tips out the back sometimes... but it wouldnt work well with my exhaust setup(single 3.5). I always thought it would be super cool to split it into a Y at the axle, (similar to GMMG... or the new company that sells them now... I forget the name, but they're much cheaper) and run dual mufflers pointed out the back, C4 style. But you'd have to cut a chunk out of the hatch well to get them even. The channel at the driver's side of the hatchwell is closer to the outside of the car than the channel on the passenger side. The spare tire well moves it over. So you could run two mufflers straight out the back, but they wouldn't be the same distance from the centerline of the car.
