Edelbrock TES Header fitment problems

Hi guys. i have a 1984 firebird s/e with the 305 lg4 block. i removed alot of unecessary emmisions equipment in the engine bay area to free up space and to make things simpler. I bought a used set of edelbrock tes headers with the air tubes. I attempted to fit the driver side header in and was not able to get it to fit. I can not figure it out. Please help as I am interested in how to get these headers to fit considering they were made for these cars. -thanks!

Either disconnect the steering linkage or jack the motor up a little.

Re: Edelbrock TES Header fitment problems

I had a set of Edelbrock's and they were incredibly easy to install, I managed to slide both in from the top with ease, are the brake lines getting in the way?

Re: Edelbrock TES Header fitment problems

like spurgeon76 had stated, my steeting column/linkage is in the way. the brake lines not so much, but they are still slightly hitting on the drivers side.

Re: Edelbrock TES Header fitment problems

Odd...I had to kinda tweak my brake lines for the DS header to fit, but I never had to disconnect the steering linkage. It's a tight fit, but the header slid past it. But as TTop350 posted, it's in the install directions...

Re: Edelbrock TES Header fitment problems

I just got the headers in guys!!! WOOHOO. in the end there wasnt a fitment problem at all. the reason why my steering column was in the way because in the horozontal position it gets in the way when installing the headers, i turned the steering wheel and clang! they fell right into place. Just finsihed installing them! runs like a charm and is got damn loud. sounds better now with open headers compared to before when i was running just a exhaust cutout after the y pipe on my stock manifolds. i now need to purchase a aftermarket y-pipe. which one is the right one for the edelbrock TES headers?>

Re: Edelbrock TES Header fitment problems

I believe you can find a replacement y-pipe on Summit.

Re: Edelbrock TES Header fitment problems

35-25-9506- "Designed to replace stock pipe and give additional ground clearance of 1-5/8'' on lowered Chevrolet/GMC trucks. For use with stock exhaust manifolds or Edelbrock Shorty Headers."

This is not the one you need.

Re: Edelbrock TES Header fitment problems

You might need to know the model number of your headers. The edelbrocks have a few different collector diameters. There are also a couple different output diameters on the y pipes.
