How to go H-Pipe Setup?

I have a stock 1992 Camaro Z28 L98. I want to go with an H-Pipe set up. Heres my problem: 1. I am sixteen with no machining equipment. 2. The car has one header and I need two for an H set up. 3. I need two mufflers for the H set up. So should I just buy the headers and take the car to a shop and let them install the headers and the H pipe there(they are very good and super cheap), or is there a way for me to install two headers with my current stock y pipe setup or install an H pipe with my current one header setup and go to two headers later? I am ignorant when it comes to cars but REALLY want to learn and do my own work.
P.S.
Can't install two headers and leave one open on the drive to the car shop because it would be to loud.

You'd have to replace every last part of your exhaust system and there would be considerable custom work. Easier to put on headers and an off-the-shelf single exhaust.

I would just let the muffler shop do it. I am doing my own, but I have a welder, and all necessary tools. You could install the headers, trace where the tubing needs to go under the car onto something, and take it down to the shop to be welded together. Then come home and bolt it up, this route will save you some money, but won't be easy.

Re: How to go H-Pipe Setup?

I am not car knowledgeable yet so this may be a dumb question, but how can I put on a single exhaust with two headers? Wouldn't that leave one header open?

Re: How to go H-Pipe Setup?

defiantly not worth it. if you can't do any of the work yourself i'd recommend just converting the exaust back to stock.
it will cost a lot of money to have a shop do that.

if you have the money set away for it then i'd go with a single stock style 3in y pipe and cat back.
but either way i don't think its worth it... im 17 and have dumped about $3000 into my car, but i couldn't image someone my age having the money to have someone install a true dual system on their 92...

So headers with a Y pipe? Is that what you would recommend?

Re: How to go H-Pipe Setup?

i have an h pipe set up i have to get rid of that came of another camaro..i have a friend who might take it but if your somewhat near to me you can buy mine possibly. i also have longtube headers (hedmans) that will work if you have an automatic anyway (they do take a little bit of work to get to fit). what state are you in? heres some pics of what i got..bear in mind that these h pipe set up sit fairly low and if you live in an area with alot of bad roads it might not be a good idea. the headers were just sandblasted and both look like the shiny one in the pic now. im in ohio..so if you cant come get em it would probably be too much for shipping
