Long tube's on an Auto car?

Hey guys,

I've looked over and drooled on some of the dual exhaust pictures that are in this section of the board. However, all the cars are manuals. Is it possible to run a dual exhaust with an auto car? Just by looking at mine, I don't see how it is. If not, I'm fine with the 3" single I've got, but I'd like a dual...because it's just....more awsome?

I haven't, got them.

I've got hooker 2055 shorties on it now, but all of the awsome dual exhaust pics show long tubes which everyone says is better. That's fine, but every car with pictures seems to be a manual.

Does anyone on here run long tube dual exhaust with an auto?

Lots of people have, including me. Wouldn't be my first choice to do on a street car though.

longtubes with dual 3" ,if you mod the frame rails and trans Xmember. It hangs no lower than a stock exhaust.

Why not for a street car? Simply because of any mods needed to make it work?

Any benefits aren't worth the hassle and loss of ground clearance compared to something that just bolts on with stock routing.

Not standard for these cars at all.

The ones I had (hok-2210) were all smashed on the bottom and the welds were cracked. I ended up selling them to a forum member as a cracked set of headers.

Do the other brands sit higher?

While I will agree with you, that still isn't a dual anything. It's a single exhaust.

What is the infatuation with dual exhaust anyway?

Sure, he could replace the Y merge with an xpipe, and run dual 2 1/2" over the axle into a dual crossflow muffler.. What is the benefit?

I'm just saying that those arent duals as per his description. Otherwise its a personal preference, I prefer dual exhaust.

They are dual by the auto trans and thats one big problem area, which is what I was showing, that duals straight by a auto trans can be done.
I was going to finish it out the back with dual stainless 3" someday. I just haven't ever got that far yet.
The 3" Ypipe was just a quick mockup until I get the stainless lined out (10yrs ago? lol) and now I'm leaning towards a 4" intermediate pipe off the dual 3" Y into my own 4"in muffler and dual 3" out to make it look just like the TOTL but bigger.

Re: Long tube's on an Auto car?

I've had duals on every f body I've owned so far, and on the newest one I picked up I'm thinking about going with a ypipe setup. If for nothing else to make them quieter. Mine have all been dumped though.
