Question about Heat Shields
Weather is going to start cooling down and I can finally do some work on my car without frying my insides.
I never put heat shields on my gas tank or fuel lines and I am going to now.
would it be best just to make sheet metal shields to put in between my mufflers and gas tank or is there some kind of heat wrapping that will do better?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Question about Heat Shields
I realize I'm bumping an OLD thread, but I also am in need of heat shields... I have a 4th gen plastic tank. I'm having my 3" dual exhaust put on (Speed Engineering LS swap exhaust) and realize I need a heat shield/shields. I can't seem to find much while searching the topic... Where/what to get, alternatives, etc. Anyone have advice?

Re: Question about Heat Shields
I am using some perforated aluminum heat shielding from amazon. It is flexible and holds its shape, seems to work great.
Comes in a roll, cut to size. Make sure you have an air gap between the shielding and tank for best results.

Re: Question about Heat Shields
I too have a dual exhaust and I am retaining the stock tank shield. It is a must in my opinion as a dual exhaust really heats up the car. I have also put fiberglass jackets on my fuel lines.

Re: Question about Heat Shields
My car didn't seem to have a stock heat shield. The 2000 z28 that I took the fuel tank from probably did but I don't seem to have it anymore and can't easily find one online. (I assume it would bolt up)...

Re: Question about Heat Shields
Hey @ShiftyCapone Do you see any improvement in lower fuel temps? I am prepping for my engine swap and am using DEI Vapor Block Fuel Sleeves from the fuel rail to the lines back under the car. Not sure if its needed past the firewall.

Re: Question about Heat Shields
Have you considered making something from one of these products?

Re: Question about Heat Shields
For my EFI swapped second gen I've been running braided teflon fuel line from tank to rails for the last 18 years or so. I wrapped them in the fiberglass wrap with the external aluminum skin. Zero issues with them over the course of that time.

Re: Question about Heat Shields
I'm as much concerned about the plastic fuel tank as the fuel lines...
