Out with the 3" and in with the 4" cat back setup

Well guys , I have been running a 3" cat back for awhile and have been contemplating going to a 4" setup due to being turbo charged. Afer tlooking at all the options like Mufflex and the Sinister setup i did some figuring on what piping i would need and placed the order from Summit Racing.

Total with shipping the piping i needed was 171.00 without the muffler vs the $449.99 For the sinister setup and $600 plus from Mufflex.
.
not sure if i am going to run a muffler due to the turbo quieting things down some..

.I just removed my 3" setup a few hours ago and will post up progress of the 4" setup as i go. If things go well i should have it done by Sunday. wish me luck

good deal, i'm reworking the exhaust on my car this winter, trying to decide on 3.5" or 4". building it yourself will get the results YOU want! looking forward to some pictures and video.

I bought the sinister kit.
Knowing what I know now, and learning how to weld, I should have bought the pipes and welded it myself.

Although the y-pipe is the hardest thing to do

Big pipe = big volume. Get a muffler. You'll be glad you did later.

dynomax ultraflow or a hooker maxflow wouldn't hurt your setup one bit.

I used to run a dynatech splitflow, basically a Borla XR1 knockoff. I got rid of and got a Hooker Aerochamber... A lot calmer at cruise, still ****ing loud though. This is a 3.5" system, NA, though. Not apples to apples, but big pipes just make a LOT of noise.

Wow, I can't see that taming the dB at all! Is that the Dynaflow or the Hooker?

The Hooker Aerochamber. The offset inlet ones are not nearly as "straight through" as the center inlet ones are.

It's just as loud at idle and WOT as the splitflow was, but it's significantly calmer at part throttle cruise and mild acceleration.

This is the Dynatech splitflow it replaced. If you look at a Borla XR-1 you'll see a nearly identical setup.

4" piping that I've found is cheaper than the 3.5

If your upgrading mightiest well go 4" and would really complement the 6.0 no need to upgrade again

3.5" aerochamber only flows 441cfm, i got this info directly from holley. if the made a 4" that would be great. i love the sound of my crossflow aerochamber, but if i redo my exhaust i want something that will flow the cfm that my engine needs, so it's going to be maxflow or ultraflow for me.

Badass355ciz28, looks like it's coming together nicely!

Thankyou I am hoping to finish it tonight after i get home from work. Over the winter i will finish making a 4" down pipe to connect to the rest of the exhaust. I want to drive it this summer...barely drove it last year

Been driving the car with the setup and loving the tone. Ended up putting two bullet mufflers on it. One where the converter goes and one where the original muffler goes. plenty of ground clearance and no rattles either. fit over the axle no problem as well.

I used a magnaflow muffler, straight through. 4" Mufflex with Hooker 1-3/4 LT headers unleashed an additional second off my 1/4 mile and added 10 mph. I took off a 3" Flowmaster system with 1-5/8 headers. I think it sounds pretty good

Looks good! I used to run a bullet plus an ultra flo on my old duals. Real quiet but lots of flow. Now single 5" with diesel truck muffler, alittle louder but the sound is awesome
