alternator alignment

Transmission: t5 manual 5 spd
alternator alignment

My alt is misalinged. i know it doesnt have the proper bracket on it currently, i feel like there shoule be somthing behind the support bracket on the rear of the alternator to the head with the large pass throught bolt. car is 305ci with NO Smog or AC. only has Long Water Pump, P/S and ALT. crank and water pump see to line up fine. Do i just need to shim the back of the alt bracket?

please ignore the red wire to the block/ it is a ground wire i had to make due with to get it home. (P/O wiring was an absolute mess still going through fixing it little by little)

I do have a correct LWP alternator bracket upper and lower to use.

The Pass through shown above is slightly too short IMO. this is a piece in the SBC alt bracket kit i picked up,

yes the ground wire is ran to the back of it for now as a slight shim. again. all will be fixed just needing to see what everyone else is doing/ Has been running.

Alternator is on the passenger side currently. Carbed engine. not TBI or TPI.

Yeah, you really need the factory brackets. They are much more rigid that that universal curved adjustment arm.

if got an aftermarket bracket kit as well. it has the same issue. the shimming with that universal arm is just what i had laying around that would get it close to be able to move it to my house. when i get home ill get the other bracket put on and get some pictures of it then.
