Staight pipe...yes or no?

I know this must have been discussed a hundred times but I want to run a straight pipe and take out my cats. I am running a 80 series flowmaster. Just a few questions:

1 Is the exhaust tone louder and throaty? I dont want it to sound fluttery at the beginning and then when u stomp on it then it sounds good. My friend did his and it sounds like $#!t. But he also has a whole different setup/motor and all.

2 Will the "check engine light" come on? I have dual cats with air tubes. And if it does come on, how do I get rid of it?

3 Will I still get the punch on the low end? Or will I only feel the power and the pull on the high end? If I lose the low end will it be really noticable?

4 Does the gas milege go shot to hell? I am currently getting apprx 180-200 miles on a full tank, mostly freeway miles though.

Any help and input would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I would definately sound a little louder as of the tone, that's in the ear of the listener. I would think mpg wouldn't decrease maybe a little better, because you have a more freely flowing exhaust.

you shouldn't get a service engine light either. You shoud just go ahead and rip out your smog stuff also, unplugging your air pump and taking it out shouldn't give you code either. But if you take out the air pump, you could either order a replacement pulley or just get a shorter belt. You can do a search and get all the part numbers for both.
