Body Kits?!?

I've been thinking about the idea of a body kit for my 87 Trans Am to make it look a little bit more aggresive and to add some import tuner flare. Now I'm not talking about a totally r1ced out T/A, but just using some of the design ideas from some of the sport compact body kits.
Mainly, I'm concerned with a front bumper with mesh grill. I'm wondering how good having the mesh grill would work, at keeping debris from being sucked into my radiator?!?!?
Any ideas or comment's?!?!...I know I'm gonna get flamed for mentioning r1cers....but oh well....

hopefully you wont get flammed here its still new and virgin mesh grills work for like twigs and paper and stuff but thats about it unless you get like tiny mesh and then maybe big rocks but stuff will still get in. body kits have been around the appearance and detailing forum for awhile but there are really no good body kits because their arnt any mayb 4 of them. if you could make one that would be sweet but dont make it to aggressive make it nice and subtle. yea i know im

Re: body kits

I just want something thats got maybe 3 spaces in it: one main radiator space and one smaller space on each side of that. Maybe 4 spaces, but thats if I split the front induction area into an upper and lower space.
Just like jocww said though, something nice and classy but simple. Really, anything as long as it's just not that big @ss stock front bumper!...i mean, talk about a waste of plastic!!

I'm guessing your talking about completely fabricating your own...

I read something once about piecing together fiberglass panels with bondo, but wasn't too sure about how it would work.

What are you planning on constructing the kit out of?

you live in sterling heights, eh? let me know when you finish the body kit so I can egg your car

kidding. with all ryce aside, it's your car. My opinion- don't do it, but if you really desire a body kit go for it. Or buy a compact car instead.

So... how are you going to be making the body kit? Are you going to piece together fiberglass sheets, or make a mold and go through the whole resin and gell process?
