Modifying a spark plug socket

I'd like to do this with one of my own spark plug sockets.

Would a dremel be adequate for cutting the socket?

And what type of drill would be needed to create the hole?

I did mine with a sawzall. i believe a hack saw will also work. I used a cheap socket, i think that makes it a bit easier. I cut a slot on the side of mine like the one SLP sells for 20 bucks. Works great with the 1 3/4 slp headers. I also cut the box end off a wrench that fits the hex and smoothed the rough end to go with it.

I did mine with a hack saw. You also have to remove the rubber ring from the inside and drill out the hole in the tope so the spark plug electrode can stick through. It works great.

I cut mine with a cutoff wheel on a die grinder.

For the record, I had to bore out the inner diameter a bit as well.

I just bought a 1/2 inch drive, so I don't think I'll need to drill a hole through the metal. I used a dremel to cut it to an inch and a half long, and I will clean up the cut tomorrow. Now I need to find where I put the rubber piece.

i don't believe you can use the rubber piece. it will stop the socket from going completely over plug.

Also, it is very helpful to cut a slot in the side of the socket. You can get it in much tighter spots

He took the words out of my mouth. I have no problem with my SLP's on any of the cylinders, works great.

A hack saw is the necesary equipment. Some sort of clamp is needed.
