AC delete bracket ideas?

I have nixed my Air Conditioning (it never worked anyway) on my '88 5.7 GTA. Now I have this giant ugly bracket for the AC pump staring at me...

I need to retain the Air pump and serpentine belt tensioner pully. Does anyone know of another bracket I can use, or the part number from GM, or???

Otherwise, it's off to the bandsaw!

Thanks

Troy

do you mean that even making your own pulley is out of the question? and you want to get rid of that whole spot? I am just trying to see what you really want to do

The bracket that holds the Air conditioning pump is the same bracket for Serpentine systems that holds the Air pump and the tensioner, it's all one big aluminum bracket.

When you remove the A/C pump, it leaves a big void where something is obviously missing. I will take a photo and post it, so you can see what I mean.

Thanks

Duh?!?

Help! I dunno how to attach the photo to the post. Do you have to post it somewhere online and link, or can you drop it into the message here (doesn't seem to work)

GM makes an A/C delete pulley that will bolt right in where the compressor was. Try a search for the pn#, this has been discussed before.

I'd have to see a pic but when i removed the a/c off my v-belt car I had the a/c bracket sticking out (same bracket that holds p/s pump) so we just removed it, cut it off nicely, filed it smooth and painted it black.

Yea, I'm gonna go that route, 300hpse, and cut and shape the bracket. I don't like the idea of all the extra clutter of anything not necessary, like a delete pully. I have this dream that I will be able to easily access both valve covers, because I would like the option of running a solid roller cam if I want, so I'm on a "tidy binge"...

If I can figure out how to post photos, I'll do a before and after.

Gm sells the 1LE A/C delete pulley. It is a nice piece and fairly inexpensive. The PN is 10055890. If you go to buy one have this number handy cause it would take them forever to find it if you just went in and asked for it. I put one on my car and so did about 3 or 4 of my friends. Most of us polished it since its an easy piece to polish. Anyway, that should help you out.

I think I've seen a few of those floating around on ebay. May be a cheaper alternative!

I really didn't want an AC Delete pully, I wanted to remove the entire ugly mess up there and move the smog pump valves up in that area, off the valve cover. It's already in progress, so I will post photos (if I can figure out how) when I am done.

Thanks
