i've thought about fiberglassing mine and painting it pearl white also! i can't quite bring myself to doing it though, i think it'd look kinda funny unless there's other white stuff in the interior; which i don't have.

well then lets see it happen. I hear alot of talk but am not seeing much happen. rip that thing out and hope it holds enough of its shape for you to get a good straight line because that will be the hard part.

dude why fiber glass...... if you want plastic and not have to worry about fabric drooping over time just buy an "ABS" plastic head liner.... they sell then in "YEAR ONE"

I dont know if I would buy a new one just to glass over it. I took out my headliner (t-top) cause it was sagging and broken in a couple of places and I almost glassed the whole damn thing just to get some integrity out of it but It was real hard to get it to keep a good straight shape. If I were you I would consider getting a big peice of styrofoam and make a mold for the headliner. then you lay foil or seliphane inside so it wont stick and your basically done. either that or I think youll probably end up making some kind of jig to keep it aligned. just an idea. you could even do it in sections and then mold them together when there done.

so if i took the headliner that was new .. layed it out on a flat tabel and started glassing .. you expect it to loose its shape?

Well I dont know how stiff a brand new one will be but I wouldnt expect it to keep its shape perfectly especially with the way the back of it slopes down on the sides to go behind the sail panels. but I guess it all depends on your glassing skills.

Yikes. Looks like you had a heck of a time. Thanks for digging up those bones. Might be better off with a homemade one. It looks hit and miss when purchasing one.
