Some custom SFC would help, just tie them in in asmeany places as possible. Check out AndyZ28's door hing replacment kits, they are ~$80 a door, but the door is used to stiffen the body, so if they have not had the hinges replaced or been worked on its probly time for some work.

A roll cage would also help it out, but a proper one would require extending the front supports farther into the front subframe(read, through firewall, and dash)

These cars are not the best for taking the top off of.

If its going to be a show car, and not racing of any kind, then some SFCs, with ties into the tranny crossmembers, and eachother should do the trick, just gota keep the motor toned down, so that you dont twist the car

If I was going to do one I’d do the custom SFC also, but I’d probably just cut the section of the floor out by the rockers and weld some 2x3 (or so) box stock the length of the car, and possibly even some diagonal bracing, some reinforcement down the tranny tunnel to the tranny mounts/seat mounts…

If a roll bar with non removable door bars would be acceptable to you, with proper design and gusseting you should be able to make it pretty rigid.

SFC would be a MUST.

when I cut my section out even with sfc's it would flex a little. Once the Roll Bar was added made a huge diff.

like Mark said If your upto it cut out the rocker section and do a 2x3 setup. tie a 6point into it all.

Seriously though, it would be stiffer than a 8 point cage.

Actually, in older (80's) Hot Rod or Car Craft issues (can't quite remember which for sure) in the back, the classifides for business ads and such, there used to be a company that sold targa kits for 3rd gens. The ad had a white Camaro with one I think.
And if I remember correctly, the TV show, Simon & Simon had one on it, about 2 P.D. brothers, AJ and Rick. (Rick played by Delta Burk's husband Gerald Macrany - don't know how his last name's spelling) AJ owned a red Z-28 with nice centerline style rims and a tagra roof. It was a beautiful car, and there were a couple shows they drove the snot out of it. It did look awsome with the targa roof.
Saw another Camaro at a carshow couple years ago, was also red, used a black leather canvas for the roof.
