TPI ram air.
Fiberglassed a ram air last weekend. Came out pretty good. here are some pics.

My mold wasnt the greatest... I didnt spend too much time on it.

Looks like Jar Jar Binks. Never seen anyone fiberglass them before! Pretty cool.

Re: TPI ram air.
just used cardboard for the mold. Then covered the outside of the cardboard with wax paper (easire than using a lifting agent and less time consuming. Then made sure it fit then fiberglassed it... I had to make sure i fiberglassed it to the plastic... Its pretty sturdy. These are the only pics i have of it.. I didnt get a chance to take any before i put the glass on it... It grabs air from where the fog lights are and a little underneath.
You can see I didnt get all the wax paper off yet...

Re: TPI ram air.
Could you post up some of the dimensions you used? What had to be cut out? How easy is it to slip in? How did you attach it to the plastic?

Re: TPI ram air.
I made it out of cardboard first... There really werent any dimensions involved... The cardboard mold was cut to fit inside of the plastic intake piece. Then I cut the curved cardboard with it on the car... to get it where I wanted. Instead of using release agent I covered the cardboard mold with wax paper. Then I fiberglassed the mold while it was still attached to the plastic piece. After the first layer was on and dry i fiberglassed the first layer to the plastic. each layer afterwards was fiberglassed to the plastic. Its easier to use fiberglass mat rather than cloth. the mat is much stronger after the resin cures. It is a snug fit, nothing hard to be cut out.. Just be careful where you get resin on the plastic piece, you dont want to get it in the holes that are used to lock the top part of the intake on.

cool idea...punn intended. the only thing i would be concerned with is the air flow to the radiator being obstructed too much. keep an eye on your temp! these cars are prone to overheating as is, never mind when you divert all the air into the intake instead of the radiator.

Re: TPI ram air.
my car runs at 180 with or without the ram air. the air dam is still there... therefore air still gets pushed up into the radiator. but thanks for your concern...

I heard that throttle response might be better but it would be nice to hear from someone who actually uses it.

Re: TPI ram air.
i was brainstorming something similar but for the same reasons that irockid86 stated my thing was or is having the entrance behind the foglights therefore having the air dam fully functional w/out restrictions.
but if you have no problems more power to ya

How much do you think leaving the fog lights in would impede the air flow using this design. I plan on building this this winter but I'm not getting rid of the my fog lights... and I'm not going with those ugly tiny round ones sold at Autozone or something.

Re: TPI ram air.
if your planning on fiberglassing in the winter think again. ive done lots of work in fiberglass... and i just posted a new AC delete box thats 100% fiberglass and i just finished that about 4 days ago... i used extra hardner in my resin mixes bc i can work faster and not waste time. but for sum reason the cold (20-35 degrees) did not allow the resin to cure fully. it stayed fexable even after 24hrs cure time in my garage. i then brought it in side and let it cure for 6 hrs and it was fine. i did everyhting inside at room temp and u dont want to be fiberglassin inside. the stench will go everywhere. whent through 3 floors in my house and sticks around for alil while after ur done. i also kno that fiberglass is a chemical reaction and doesnt need warm temps to work bc the chemical reaction actually causes heat... but the evidence says otherwise, ive only fiberglassed in warm temps before this. fiberglass is also messy... it would come out cleaner if u used aluminum(thin) or even tin (AC ducting) and just screwed/riveted it together. just throwing that out there.
sure fiberglass is easier to mold and light and will prob get the job done. but not to knock the job (he stated he didnt spend alot of time on it) its looks need sum serious attention. u then have to paint it and deal with it or bondo it and sand and bondo and sand etc and then paint. Knock it out 1-2-3 with homedepot aluminum and rivets in 3 hrs and u can even polish it or paint but the work is done for u
