Re: 84 power bulge FLapper unit..

it was the unit that was under the power bulge hood that opened a flap to let cold air in...
i think it was only 83-84 im not sure.

How big are these micro switches? Depending on size and how exactly they work, I may have a use for one.

Re: 84 power bulge FLapper unit..

I have the hood on my car and the flapper unit sitting in my parts storage. I too want this thing on my car because of the water that comes in. The best bet it to mount a power lock motor in place of that vac one and wire it up to a switch in the car.

Re: 84 power bulge FLapper unit..

There is a drip tray that comes with to avoid the water problem. I have nos complete setup out of a 83. dont have the correct hood yet.

If ur engine is carb you can get a vaccum switch and then wire the solinoid to the vaccum switch.

i guess with efi engine, you could possibly get a voltmeter switch from radioshack or something to wire it to the maf. just an idea

good luck .....post up some photos on what you end up doing

Re: 84 power bulge FLapper unit..

depending on the voltage requirement, could you use the TPS reference wire?

Re: 84 power bulge FLapper unit..

well it seems i did somthing wrong... i blew the solenoid or somthing.... it doesnt work anymore... it was working, but now its not.. i guess im just gonna leave it open for now until i find like a door lock actuator or somthing to the same effect, to use the same motion... i cant find these solenoids anywhere... i really wanted it to work. anyways i will get pics up asap... BTW im using a duel snorkel air cleaner with the 84 power bulge unit LID... so cold air from both snorkles and then the cold air from the power bulge unit.
