This is my targa top build. Making a soft top that will slide open and closed. This is the start.

After cut. Used a 4" grinder with a cut off wheel.

cut half inch strips of one eighth flat bar.

with the roof cut off there is no strength. Needs bracing

took my strips and locked it in with the old Bracing.

I cut it so the top could be set back in place

Are you making a soft top to go in or using the panel you cut out to make a removable targa.

If you go with option 2 you could probably scavenge some t-top mechanisms to make it lock in.

A buddy of mine did this to his 69 Impala one summer about 30 years ago, there was a lot of beer involved in that one.
