TA Performance 9-bolt & 10-bolt rearend girdles/covers
Hey all,
Just wanted to make a quick note here that there is currently a GP going on TA Performance rear end covers/girdles (with AFR stud kits) for both the 9-bolt & 10-bolt rear ends. You can find more pics & info in this thread, starting w/ post #674.

The "bare bones" of it is:
If you can find at least 5 others that want any TA Cover they will be $170 shipped with stud kit, if we get 10+ they will be $155 shipped.
They're normally $159 for the cover, then the stud kit adds another $25 (so about $180 total). But, if we get 10 or more people, they'll ship 'em out the door for $155, which is basically equivalent to getting the stud kit for free. The GP is good for either the Aussie 9-bolt rears, or the more-common 10-bolt rear end covers. We currently have a total of six people who have committed to buying, if we get just four more, we get the $155 price.
If anyone's interested, send me a PM indicating which rear-end cover you want, & how quickly you need it. Also, if you do NOT want the stud kit (for whatever reason), please indicate that as well.

Well, I'll likely be placing the order when we get 10 people signed up, & we have 7 now...

would there be a possibility of getting the covers any cheaper if we got say... 15 or 20 people in on the GP?

I'd appreciate it if you would post the list of those who are committed to the GP here in the first post, and update the list as necessary. I should be in for a 9-bolt, and maybe a 10-bolt, but let me check with a friend before I commit to anything. Any chance of additional discount with >10 covers being purchased?

OK, I've been fairly busy over the last couple days, but thought I'd take a second & post a bit of updated info:
First off, I called TA Performance today (since we were up to 7 or 8 people), spoke to Dave, & the way that he talked, it's really unlikely that we'd get a bigger discount than the $155 price.
Also, at this moment I'll have to get a bit more info before setting a date that this will end.
------------------------------------------------
EDIT: OK, here's "the rest of the story" (as Paul Harvey would say) -
As I said, I saw that we were getting pretty close to having the 10 people that we wanted in order to get the $25 off, so I called TA Performance. What Dave told me is that for a group like ours (that's not going through one of their dealers), the best they could do for us if we had 10 people was to take $10 off each cover.
Obviously I was NOT happy to hear that, so I contacted the guy who ran the previous GP on these, to see if he'd be able to offer the same deal to us as before, & here's his response:
So - the new procedure is this: If you want a cover, contact Shon Herron using the info at this link, & let him know things like whether you want the 9-bolt or 10-bolt cover, how many you'd like to buy, whether you want the stud kit or not, etc.
Also, I haven't yet added up how many people we have at the moment, but I'm pretty confident that it's over 10, so we should easily qualify for the $155 price... (I'll post an update soon with the number.)
Thanks guys, let me know if you have any questions.

HEY!!
YES, I will do another GP for the covers.
Last time I did the 9bolt covers they were very long on delivery time so
please let everyone know that it might take several weeks for the 9bolt
covers to be shipped. TA Performance will only ship to my address so I
have to get them and then turn around and ship them out to customers, I
turn them the next day so my end is not the hold up, it's TAP's.
I will include ANY cover TAP has, so if you know some Ford guys get them
in on it too.
Since you have a LOT of folks ready to go I will post up on the sites I
sponsor to see if we can get even more orders, how soon do you think they
want to order, that way I do not have to leave the GP going for a long
time and you guys can get the covers quickly.
Let me know how they want to pay, either by Paypal or money order. and let
me know which ones want stud kits and which ones don't.

Actually, you DON'T contact TA Performance directly - I apologize if that was unclear.
The link you hit is in the text below (now marked in bold font):
Again, please use the contact info from the link above... Sorry for any confusion.

Just a question for those who may already have installed one
I have a 24mm sway bar in the back and it looks like the girdle sticks out a bit
Any problems with sway bar/girdle contact or install?
thanks in advance

There's information from the original GP thread which was linked to in the first post of this thread.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/post...4-post652.html
There are several people who have provided feedback on that original thread.

I just purchased my 9 bolt girdle and stud kit ($155.00 shipped) with Herron performance and they need 6 more commitments/payments to go through with the Group purchase.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Yep, that correlates with what Shon told me also - and yes, my money's already been sent...
C'mon guys, if you've said you're interested, this is the best deal you're going to find anywhere on these! It's $155 with the stud kit through this GP, or $160 without it otherwise! (And $185 to get everything outside of the GP.)
EDIT: A bit of additional info - the clearance between the rear-end cover & swaybar seems to be sufficient right up until your car is capable of a 1.6 second 60-ft time - And if you're able to do that, then you're already an old hand at dealing with other things hitting also...
Finally - Shon (the vendor) is talking about ending this GP on the 28th - so if you're going to order one of these & haven't, you're running out of time. Like I said on the "Aftermarket Products" board, after doing the legwork for this, I'm pretty comfortable saying that this is the best deal you're going to find for these.
Over the next couple of days, I'll try to post up a list of all of the people who have expressed interest, that is if anyone wants me to...

OK, here's the list of people who have sent me PMs:
Old Phart - 9
Spdfrk1990 - 10
Norwood - 9
CashMunson - 9
honkeytonk_man - 9
MileHighBird - 9
CriSSes - 10
krayende - 9
I'm also trying to get shipping costs for a couple of people in Europe as well, if it's not too spendy, we can add two more to that list. Add all of these to the people who've expressed interest in the two threads, & we should be able to hit 10 people easily.
Just to clarify something that a couple of people have asked about, yes, the $155 does include shipping (at least domestically).
I think that I'm finally caught up on replying to my PMs, so hopefully that'll help to get us "over the hump" so to speak.
Finally, if anyone has any questions that aren't answered here, please post in this thread rather than sending me a PM. I'll try to answer either way, but if we post here, then others can get the info as well.
Thanks guys!

Well, we're trying to strike a balance between letting as many people as possible get in on the GP and not dragging it out too long so that people don't get their parts for weeks. The date that's been mentioned to end it is Feb. 28th (or this coming Weds.).

Sorry guys, I haven't been paying attention to this thread as I've been working a lot of hours the last few days.
(And yes, I've been kinda wondering too...)
I don't have info at the moment on when he placed the order, but I can tell you this - I ordered a magnetic angle-finder gauge in the same order as my diff cover (I have a used BMR Trak-Pak that I need to install), & I got home tonight to find that it was sitting on my porch.
I'll try to contact Shon within the next couple of days to get the latest update.
UPDATE: I sent him a quick note late last night, & he's already replied:
Hope this helps guys.

I placed the order 3/1/07 with TAP and they said all were in stock. I see where they have charged me with some of the shipment already, I am waiting on them to come to me via UPS and then I will get them out to you guys the next day.
Most should know that a GP takes weeks to complete and I was up-front with everyone that these were not in stock and being ordered from TAP and I had to let them come from AZ to me and then out to them. TAP will not drop ship the covers.
If I can provide them with any more information let me know.

I also sent Shon a request for order status and he requested that I post his reply as follows:
"On 3/1/07 @11:20AM EST I placed the order for 16 TA Peformance Covers, 5 10bolt covers, 10 9bolt covers, and 1 10bolt cover for earlier chevy rear.
I was told by the person taking the order that all covers were in stock and would ship out soon. On 3/4/07 my CC was charged for part of the order, I do not know which covers but I know some are in transit. The others should be soon behind those. NOTE: these covers have to come from AZ to SC and then out to you guys. I will have the covers turned around the day after they arrive at my place.
Please note that this closed on 2/28/07 at 10PM EST, and it has only been
5 business days since the close, most of the time a GP takes 4-6 weeks to complete once the GP is closed(ie the customer get products). I think we will be well within that range barring any complications on TA's side.
If you have other questions or concerns please contact me at shon@herronperformance.com"
Thanks Shon!

if TAP had all the covers in stock, i don't see why it would take 4-6 weeks to get the covers. i'm sure we'll get them in a couple weeks.

Hey guys, here's the latest update, I received it this morning...
Hope this helps...
Can you update the folks that I am shipping out 9 covers today, most
should have received an email from UPS with the tracking number, which
will be 'active' later today.
TA Performance says 6 of the 9bolt covers are on back order. So I guess
Dave at TAP was wrong that they were all in stock or maybe they were
pulled before my order was processed. But they will be coming, it will
just be a few more weeks delay'd. And the covers were shipped out in the
order in which payment was received. Those that paid first got their
covers sent out first.
If you have more questions please contact me and I will help you out as
much as I can.
Thanks, Shon
