Be wary of Ebay floormats!
I just recently bid on a set of GM floormats for the 82-92 Camaro. I had a friend go to the place to pick them up for me to save $11 on shipping. He called me to tell me that the floormats are not NOS but are GM universal floor mats. The advertisement said they are the real thing, which they are, but they are not NOS. I bid high on them thinking they were real. I can get these same mats at the dealer today for around $30. The floor mats are being sold by thirdgenparts.
Again, the floor mats they are selling are real GM floor mats and they will fit the Camaro, but they are not NOS Camaro floor mats. Be careful.

Uh-oh...I bought some "NOS" GM 82-84 Camaro floormats on Ebay earlier this year. However, they did not come from thirdgenparts. How can you tell which mats are specifically for a particular car? I hope mine aren't the universal kind. I don't have the originals to compare with the new ones. Is there a code I can look for on the box? Thanks in advance!

The rears its probably next to impossible to tell. I can measure mine and give you a dimension, maybe they're different. The fronts I dont know, they are pretty specific... It'd be hard to use a universal up front, I havent seen any that fit right as of yet. I havent seen the 'universal' fronts from thirdgen parts or GM yet though.

Here's the link to the auction. These are official GM floor mats, but they weren't designed specifically for the 3rd gen Camaro. I want the floor mats with the part number that corresponds to the 82-92 Camaro medium grey floor mats.

Also, here is what the driver's side is supposed to look like. I need to clean it!!!

I've bought one or two things from Thirdgenparts and I will say that they do tend to stretch the description a bit or use creative wording. I almost bid on a set of those myself (that's not the first pair they've sold) but then realized that they looked like universal ones, not 3G specific. No universal floormat will correctly fit floorpan contours on the passenger side- the factory ones barely do.

I too took the bait on this scandal a while back, but from a different party. From what I can tell the rear universal GM mats are the same as what my '88 GTA has in it. The fronts are another story entirely.
I ended up buying a set of front mats for a '91-'92 GTA in the same color as my car's interior. They have a different look to them than the originals that my cars had, but they are cut correctly and are GM mats. I may just take the "GM" logo button from my old mats and reglue them to the new ones.... and let it go at that.

Just an update, thirdgenparts contacted me last night saying they will allow me out of the auction. At least they are willing to work with me.
I didn't post this to inform people of a bad transaction with eBay, but to let people know that the floor mats are not original NOS. That's why I posted it in the history section. All you restoration people beware of incorrect parts.
