Websites about this are all over the place. Not sure if there are any established as the historical source for the 3rd Gen.

I'm not going to do a Google search for you b/c I think it's safe to assume you've done this already, correct?
Tell us what you've found. I'm sure readers here will be able to verify the data you've found on the web (or not).

You could break down 1987 further: Total Z28 13,974 Total IROC 38,889 giving your total of 52,863. In addition 12,105 IROC's had the 350 engine. First year for the L98 engine. Also 1987 was the last year that the Norwood plant (Cincinatti, OH) assembled the Camaro/Firebird. It closed August 26, 1987. Hope your project goes well, and give Thirdgen.org a plug as well!

Here's a good start....you will have to
for more....
"RS" denotes "Rally Sport" and was a slightly cheaper model than the Z28 Camaro, but an option upgrade from the base model Camaro. The RS could be had with a number of options, including V8 power, and power windows, brakes, upgraded sound system, etc. The RS package always included ground effects and a rear decklid spoiler. The RS option was first availible in 1987 and was present until 1992. From 1990 to 1992, the RS option was the lowest availible option as the base model Camaro was not produced
The "police package" or B4C option was an RS Camaro with air conditioning, Z-28 power train, 140 amp altenator and came with some (but not all) of the 1LE option package equipment. This included dual cats, special suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, posi-traction, special axle ratio, oil cooler, 16" aluminum wheels, 145 MPH speedometer, and 245/50ZR16 blackwall tires. In order to determine if it is a true B4C, look for the "B4C" code on the option label located inside the glove box.
The secret showroom stock racing 1LE option (option level 0 IROC-Z)was first available in 1988, however, only 4 were produced. Then in 1989, the option became more well-known as 111 were produced that year. The package was obtained by ordering the following:
Level 1 IROC-Z with 5.0 TPI engine with 5 speed or 5.7 TPI engine
Optional axle ratio (G92) (305/3.45, 350/3.27) and its required options
Air conditioning delete (C41) (standard heater)
The package originally consisted of:
Fog lamp delete
Aluminum driveshaft (JG1) (part # 10085375)
Performance exhaust system (N10) (dual catalytic converters)
Special deflected disc shocks
Aluminum spare wheel with smaller spare tire (N64)
Lower control arms (part # 10164151)
Larger (11.86 inch) front rotors (part # 18016035)
Larger front spindles (part #'s 18016737 / 18016738)
PBR front, dual-piston aluminum calipers (part #'s 10132827 / 10132828)
Special swinging fuel pickup in gas tank and special 18 gallon baffled fuel tank for fuel pickup down to .5 gallon reserve to prevent fuel starvation in hard cornering
Some came with special 16" x 8" light alloy mesh wheels (XWL)
IROC was option package B4Z. The new IROC-Z option was available on the Z28 and came with new 16x8 aluminum rims, P245/50VR-16 Z Rated Goodyear Gatorback tires, fog lights, CAMARO on front license plate panel, .5 inch lowered ride height, body colored valances, Delco-Bilstein rear gas shocks, special front struts, increased spring rates, special jounce bumpers, 5 degrees of caster (up from 3.5 on Z28) in front wheel alignment, `WonderBar' front frame rail stiffener, special valving in steering for increased steering effort, larger rear stabilizer bar with stiffer bushings, IROC-Z exterior decals and interior dash badge, and a thinner two-color lower body stripe.
Good Ol' Z28.... This is the one most people relate to. This is a special performance package that also included different emblems and body trim, depending on the year. The Z28 also came with front, side, and rear lower body valances and the headlamp pockets on the Z28 were black. Z28s had larger front and rear sway bars, different springs, and different engine options, depending on the year.
There is so much more to it than just this, but this is a pretty good start. All this info came from this web site and is mostly cut and pasted here (thanks everyone).......
Are there any more packages you were interested in?????
