Formula Advertising ???

Hey Guys,

I've been a loyal Camaro guy for years, however in the last year I have be lured onto the "DARK SIDE" . That's right I have become a Firebird guy, Formula's to be specific (I just picked up a 62K '89 Formula 350, to add to my '91 Formula, also a 350 car).

I was just wondering if the Formula's were ever advertised? I have seen many Z/28 and Trans Am ads but never seen a Formula advertisement. Did they have any? if so could someone post one.

Thanks, Garrett

Actually that is the same as what Pontiac has in their sales brochure.

As far as Formulas, the only Ad that Iam aware of for 3rd gens is the one from 1987. There was one basic ad, but there are 2 variations. Some of them actually state that the 350 was going to be a limited production of 1500 units. Other Ads do not have this.

I never saw the '87 Formula ad that stated 1500 units.
Where did you see it (What mag-month and year)?

Thanks,

George

I think those yellow ones are way cool, don't see them to often either. In that ad above, those stock formula wheels look very cool to, not so in real life though, wonder why...

I found the ad on the internet a few years back. But my hard drive crashed and thus I no longer have the ad... I guess the Credibility of it drops. But I do know it exists...

The Ad was identical, If I remember right there was a little Asperisk and then a not at the bottom stating "Limited to 1500 Units" or something along those lines...

Thanks John,
For the information!
I have the one page '82 Trans Am ads, and one of them says "See your local Southern California Pontiac Dealer".
I always wondered if other areas around the United States had things like that for those areas.
Anyone?

George

Some of the early 82 LG4 cars got the flat hood. The bulge hood became standard mid-year. All the 82 LU5 cars got the hood however.

Will definatly have to keep this to prove to people that say that 350's couldn't get T-Tops, the ad you posted clearly stats it is availible with all powertrains.

Well said... I agree.

But they were available on the Formula only in 1987. They're its most identifiable characteristic, making the '87 unique to all other years. That's why I'll always keep mine.

Personally i like original wheels on most cars, if done right. I have looked for some aftermarket wheels for a long long time, but found nothing i really want.

So as an alternative, how about widening the rear wheels, say an inch and a half to 9,5 inches wide, then a full pro polish job, 275 tires on the rear, 245 as stock up front. What do you think?

The charcoal color inside the "spokes" isn't my favourite either, but I don't know what would look better. Perhaps a champagne metallic/pearl color? Whadda ya think?
