OK, I have a 88 T/A w/ a 305 TBI. I am trying to figure out how to tell which suspension option I have. I know that the !LE was like the performance suspension package for the Trans ams' and GTAs'. I would have figured my particular model wouldnt have the !LE package because, I only have the TBI 305 but, there is a label on my dash on the passenger side saying Performance Suspension. It has front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Does anyone know?

Yeah, it's possible it may be in the locking cover in the rear of the car, I know they put them in there but don't know which year they started doing that.

nope it wasnt in there either. Right now i have the interior completley out. I cant find this SPID anywhere its not under any of the panels or on any part of the interior. Is there anywhere else it would be located? Is there another way of finding this out? So WS6 and 1LE are different options? Alot of times ive noticed that suspension and brake parts are for use with or without 1LE. So It's something i should probably figure out before I start working on my brakes and suspension.

The badge you are referring to can come from a few different options. WS6 is one of them, but since you said your car has a LO3 and rear drums, I'm willing to be you have F41 option. Basically, it was an upgrade from stock suspension which included slightly bigger front and rear sway bars and Bilstein shocks. I'm not positive that it had any effect on brakes, but I highly doubt it. WS6 was still the better option, though.
My T/A has F41 too. It's nothing special. You just get a neat little badge on the passenger side dash panel.
In any case, chances are that those shocks are due for a change anyway and there are better aftermarket sway bars out there. The rest of the suspension is what pretty much came on all the third gen f-bodies, most of which is crap as well (relative to the better aftermarket parts available now; back then it was pretty groundbreaking in terms of handling).
Hope that helps.

If you have a caliper, measure the swaybars... if the front bar is 36mm, and the rear is 24mm, then odds are you have the WS6 suspension. They could have been swapped in, but check anyway if you can.

I think from 87 & up all Trans AM's got the "Performance Suspension" emblem on the passenger side.
I know all Formula's and GTA's got it for sure. BUt I do not remember seeing any 87+ T/A's without the emblem.
