If it isn't a 350 with the Tuned Port Injection used in the 87 - 92 Camaros or Trans Ams, then it doesn't belong on this board.

The #14093638 is designated as a 350 block used in the cars from 87-92 with VIN #s 6,7 and 8. The f-body used only 8. No other way to narrow it further.

Technically, it could be a Camaro/Firebird engine...

But who cares? It's a 350, roller cam, one piece rear main seal, centerbolt valve covers. Nothing else to know really...

This isn't a truck board. If you want the truck details, use the PM feature.

vh314954

V = Pontiac (MI) Assy Plant
H = 1987 ( You got that correct )
3 = Oldsmobile??? Definately not Chevrolet or Pontiac in 1987 as they all had either 1 for Chevy or 2 for Pontiac.
14954 = Sequence number of the car

Oddly enough, I do not think that in 1987 Olds did not offer a 5.7L in any car, Are you sure its not a 2? that would be a Pontiac.

Actually it should read 2VH214954 if for a Pontac or 1VH11954 for Chevrolet. I think it may be missing a diget, OR the plant ONLY for made 1 car line... What did they make in the Pontac MI Plant in 1987?

gm57lgsgi
GM = Obviously General Motors
57L = 5.7L or 350ci

As for the TPI, it WILL fit any 87-95 Engine block with the center bolt valve covers, the 55-86 SBC's used a different angle bolts for the intake to the heads, although someone could technically machine the 85-86 intake for the later heads. The Vortec heads in 1996-1998 Again used a different bolt pattern and you would need to get a Vortec intake

I think ALL SBC's starting in 1987 got the roller cam... I could be wrong, but I have been told that the block at least has the alotment for them.

I hope that helps

John

no not all were roller in 87 up

trucks like my 87 c-10 305 tbi is not a roller

but its got the block with the casting stands and holes in the lifter gallery and all that
but unused
i have the engine hanging out on the hoist right outside right now with the intake removed

block casting 14093627 date casting F288
SGI
5.0L

GM roller was very hit and miss

most of the roler stuff was in the cars only early on

caprices, camaros and such

good luck

I looked up SGI. Although I cannot tell you what it was originally used in, I can tell you it was not used on any 87-92 F-body.
