questions about an '87 Iroc

I heard on the camaroz28 board that Willie is the expert on '87 camaros, so I decided to drop a line over here instead of on the cz28 board.

On the L98 what are the cc size of the cylinder heads? 64cc or 76cc? Also, what's the stock height for the front end and rear end off the ground? I think mine was lowered, as it's lower than my dad's '97 and my '83 SportCoupe.

Oh, and is there anywhere that I can just find the specifications on this car so I don't have to ask you guys a bunch of questions?

I dont know how much you know about 3rd gens, so i hope this doesnt insult your intellegence. But maybe your iroc looks lower cause it has G/FX and your S/C doesnt.

Wow, my reputation precedes me...

I know it's not 76cc. It could be either 64 or 67cc, but I'm not sure. You might want to ask on the Tech/General Engine board.

Also, what's the stock height for the front end and rear end off the ground?
This data is not published. What I can tell you is the overall height (loaded) is 50.3 inches for the Z28. The IROC-Z sits 15mm lower. The term "loaded" is also not defined. I assume that means with four passengers, but not sure.

If you own an '87 Camaro, call GM Customer Service at 800.222.1020 and ask for a Restoration Packet. Have your VIN handy as they will ask you for it -- for proof of ownership. They will send you this packet free of charge and it includes practically all the specs you've ever wanted.

And a good one that it is...very important, especially for being a moderator, as we've come to trust what you say. Not saying you can't be wrong but you seem to be the walking encyclopedia for 3rdgen facts, figures and stats. I have probably learned more from your posts on the boards than most books would teach me.

Thanks Rob. My Camaro "knowledge" comes from two places. First, I'm an old guy... I was buying these cars when they were new. I researched dealer info every year. I've retained some of this knowledge. Second, and this is along story so I'll try to keep it short. I wanted dearly to own a '87 Z28 convertible but could never find one. I tried to order one new, but the dealerships had no information on them (incredible!!). In my quest to find the ONE person who knew about this car, I gained bits and pieces of info through dozens of sources. I never found that ONE person, but it seems that I have become that person.

Yes, I have been wrong, but my batting percentage is probably in the 900's. That's because I try not to convey any information that cannot be proven correct. Sometimes I do make assumptions which turn out to be wrong, but when I do this, I always state that it is an assumption -- no cold hard facts.

Thanks again!! Don't you just love this website? It's geared to help us all...

I was reading through the FAQ on this site and saw something about a seat belt recall. Is that still going? My seat belts have a faded pink button, and the button is brittle, and they don't work all that well. Can I still goto a dealership and get new seatbelts for free?

CamaroAllTheWay,

Please repost your last question under a new post. This question will probably not be seen by others in a post originally asking about a 1987 Camaro. I will answer your question after it has been reposted. Thanks for understanding.

Willie
