Build Sheet disappointing at best...

A buddy of mine bought a Chevy Sprint turbo from a salvage yard last week. Inside the interior was completely stripped except a lone Camaro passengers seat. I ended up with the seat and brought it home a few minutes ago. Anyway while carrying it to the car I noticed the build sheet was still under the springs. I pulled it out and surprisingly its in VERY good condition, as far as build sheets go. Anyway it came from VIN 1G1FP21S3JL127755. Translates to a 88 Chevy Camaro Sport Coupe. Anyway the information on the build sheet is extremely limited, the only usefull RPO's on it are for the seats, gray buckets... and the spring RPO's... Not really worth the trouble to pull it out.

Just thought I'd share for the crowd that are forever searching for the elusive sheets... Don't waste your time, if you know your vin and your original interior items, its not worth the trouble to pull the seat and remove the shredded sheet.

FWIW the build sheet from my 83's seats had info on the gearing, interior, body, etc... Stuff that was usefull. Its possible different years had different info.

I know the ones out a 92 Z and another 92 B4C had descriptions of all of RPO's. Those are interesting sheets but it seems like those were always put on the seats and dealers would through them away when detailing the new cars.

I believe unlike the older cars, newer cars got several build sheets, one for interior, one for drive train etc. You probably just got the interior sheet. I now both sheets carry some of the same info but I pretty sure their are different sheets.

Probably what you have is one of the sub-assembly line sheet, these are not the same as the build sheet thats common. the '88 Van Nuys build sheet includes all RPO's delivery info exc. the sub-assembly sheets are more specific to for example the trim line, when the seats were assembled in another area of the plant. I have a couple of these sub-assembly sheets from both a '89 and a '91 that I bought new. I also have a water test sheet out of one too. Chris

That 88 Camaro came from Nebraska and now has a salvage title in South Dakota. I thought it would have been cool if that seat belonged to one of our members cars here.

The seats getting parted out, the covers will be cleaned and may end up as extras for my convertible, the foam back will probably go in my iroc, and maybe the headrest if I can repair it.

I wondered if someone here might own the car the seat came out of, but I imagine it probably got recycled.

It was between the seat foam and the springs... the springs cut the hell out of the sheet.
