A Weird freckish engine

I have a 1985 trans am, with a lg4 (305)v8 in it and last week my friend let me G-tech my car because I thought that my car had some extra boom in it. Well I G-Teched it and I ran a 16.05 at 89.6mph with 4065lb!total weight of my car, (I had all seats full with half tank of gas and a butt load of tools and skateboards in the back). I went to www.corral.net and typed in the times from my car and it calculated that my car has 233hp. The only thing that I have in my car is a K & N open element air filter. The rest is all bone stock. Why is my engine a Freck?

Its not... Never trust a $140 gadget and calculations. Throw it on a dyno or run it at the dragstrip. The LG4 is nowhere close to 233hp.

I went and did the calculations on many different internet sites and they all told me the same amount.but to make sure the g-tech was right ,I just got back from the auto hobby shop on the base. And they put it on a wheelie thing and when you are in the driver seat you look out the window and you can read the screen and it has a needle and it was on about 200. And yes that does mean the g-tech was off , but not 70 hp.....do you think that there is a different engine in the car then what the Vin says?

I suspect your estimate of the weight is off, which GREATLY affects the calculation of HP.

My 91 GTA, with no driver and minimal gas weighs 3,410 lbs. This has been confirmed within +/- 20 lbs many times and remember that a GTA tends to be the heaviest of all the 3rd Gen F-bodies. A full tank of gas weighs about 100 lbs.

Assuming your car weighs close to mine, with a half tank of gas your car should weigh no more than 3,450 lbs. Add your own weight and REMOVE ALL THE TOOLS and do the test again. Assuming you weigh 200 lbs, you are saying your tools weighs over 400 lbs.

There's no way an LG4 has close to 200 RWHP either.

ok, i got some good news. I took the car down to the hobby shop and i told them i wanted to see what kind of horsepower i am getting. They said that they would "dyno"it (i have no clue what that is but they put my car on some huge rollers and they started to drive it ). $60 LATER!, they said that my 1985 lg4 T/A has 213hp. Larry was shocked and said that i have a gm freak. i think it is a lg4 because the numbers say so, but it only says 305 under the engine. is my car a Freak? greg
