Speedometer
New to the IROC group and wonder why my 85 iroc speedometer only goes to 85. Also where can I get parts at the best price, like the IROC decals etc and the emblem on the front spoiler?. What kind of gas mileage should I get from this car? I also noticed that the rims are marked front and rear and the rear tires are a little bigger, is that correct?
Thanks, Tom

All '85 IROCs came from the factory with 85 MPH speedos. I BELIEVE (correct me someone if I am wrong) that the 145 MPH speedo was added in mid-'86 to TPI-only cars.
As for stickers and emblems, people tend to run to Classic Industries (order the catalog at www.classicindustries.com). HOWEVER, dealers can still get quite a bit of this stuff, and are 9 times out of 10 cheaper! Consult your dealer before you buy items through mail-order.
Finally, the car is rated for 16/24 for MPG...also, the front and rear tires are the same size (or should be)...P245/50/VR16 Goodyear Eagles were the factory tires...the reason for the Front and Rear marking is because the offset (??) is different for the front and rear wheels.

Willie, can that late '86 speedo work on a '86SC produced at Van Nuys in Nov '86 without major changes?

Any 82-89 Camaro speedometer works in any other 82-89 Camaro. Just swap the speedo unit, its a direct plug-n-play deal.

Here's my 85's gauges. The gauge cluster is out of an 89 IROC, and the overlays are Macewen pieces. I got a great deal on the gauges from some guy in Arizona (
) and I'm quite happy with them. Unfortunately, I'm going to do a T56 swap soon and I'm afraid that I may wind up going to a digital cluster or a custom Autometer setup.
