My thoughts on the never made Firehawk

I was just getting in my car today and then it hit me. Of those few '92 Firehawks, why was none ordered in Yellow? The Jamaica Yellow is so limited and always loved the '91-'92 body, imagine a Firehawk in yellow with the R15 inserts matching, wow, what a bad a$# I thought!

I can't seem to sell one of my cars, was thinking now of having it stripped and painted jamaica yellow where every inch is covered ( it's white now ) so you would think it came from factory like that. I mean everywhere, even in crack's. I could easily get the motor done to 500 and be the fastes '92 ( non )- Firehawk. Any thought! Andy

I'm sure the lack of a yellow Firehawk is simply the result of most guys not thinking yellow is a manly color. I'd imagine 99% of all Firehawks were ordered my men, not women, and the average guy who is into fast cars isn't really gonna want yellow when black or red is much more menacing.

Yellow is definately a manly color, it just shows that the man is secure... If it was Pink.... then there might be some hidden issues... Just kidding.

Most of the YELLOW corvettes are indeed owned by MEN. In fact I have never met an owner of a Yellow firebird or Camaro, Corvette, Monte Carlo, Mustang that was a woman. From my observations Women who purchase a NEW sporty car tend to lean toward Black or Red. Yellow cadillacs, Buicks and Oldsmobiles are a different issue as the yellow on those cars tend to be much more pastel. I may be WAY off base as I have never done a scientific observation, but from looking around and watching trends it seems to be reasonably accurate. Matter of fact when I told an ex girlfriend that if she ever saw my Yellow Firebird at work she was agast and would not be cought dead in a yellow car. - Thus she is EX -

I think the Yellow would look good

Jamaica Yellow is a grear color on 91-92 Firebirds. 1 of 2 Jamaica Yellow 1992 Trans Am convertibles, black top, black wheels, black interior, is owned by a guy in my neighborhood. Gorgeous car, it's just such a rare color to see.

I also like the yellow with black lower accent color on the '87 Formulas. That was actually one of the first Third-Gen Firebirds that really got me hooked on these cars.

Yellow Firehawk with Ronals with yellow inlays I think would look badass.

I think it has to do with the fact that the shade of yellow used by Pontiac for "Jamaica Yellow" is just plain nasty!!!! It's like a faded banana yellow or something. Even the yellow used for GM's "Millenium Yellow" on the 'Vettes is horrible.

If they had used a REAL yellow like Porsche's "Speed Yellow" it would have been MUCH more popular. I think the people @ GM were color blind or something.

BTW, Ronal's painted with Black instead of Yellow would look better IMO on a yellow car.

One thing I noticed is when I purchased my 87 I was thinking of changing the color to the yellow that was used on the 97-03 Mustangs, I liked the color much better. Once I got into the car however I noticed that the paint had faded so badly that it looked nothing like it did originally. I was really pleased with the color once I had it on the car. Even the paint chips did not do it justice.
