Re: Help, what year is this camaro?
It is an 85 or an 87. If there is no third brake light it is an 85. If it has one in the spoiler it is an 87.

Re: Help, what year is this camaro?
It's really hard to say.
The door decals point out that it would be a 88-90 iroc however the wheels are saying 85-87.
Those also appear to be non-grid tail lights which would not be found as oe on an iroc.

Ok thanks, the guy told me it was an 83 but i didn't think they made the IROC in 83. We'll see what year it is when I check it out this week. He wants $700 for it.

Your best bet is to just check the VIN #. Also i didnt notice the decals in the picture so as said before it is harder to tell since they are in the spot where they were put on the 88-90 cars and dont match the wheels which were used from 85-87.

The nose doesn't mean anything, I've seen a bunch of 92-92 cars in a junk yard with the 82-84 nose. VIN tells all. Run it through Carfax and it'll tell you the year, model, and engine for free.

Also you can check the lic plate through your states DMV website. (you can in CA anyway to check its smog history). But I dk where your at and if you have smog/inspections etc. Yup, same comments as everybody else, cant determine the yr just by looking at cause it dont make sense (decals are later 80's, wheels are mid 80's, 3rd brake light??, no iroc on dash, etc)...

Yeah I guess its kinda a mutt. Im guessing it a 83 cause thats what he said and I'll check the VIN/Title....
----------
He also said he cut the wiring harnes becuase he was going to put a carbourated engine in it, but didn't an 83 z-28 come with a carbourated engine?

Re: Help, what year is this camaro?
One definite way to check is to run the rpo codes in the center console. If it's a iroc, it will have the B4Z code. I'm not sure about newer models, but 85 - 87 have that code for sure.
Doesn't look like a 86 though, unless someone took the brakelight off the rear window.
I can barely see the gauges, but I'm leaning to it being a 85, if it is an iroc. I'm kinda of doubting that though.
That nose for sure looks older. Not like mine. Looks more like my 83's nose.
Regardless, clean as hell, and a great deal, from what I see. I paid $710 for my Iroc. Looks rough, but runs decent. lol

Re: Help, what year is this camaro?
As many have stated check the tenth digit of the VIN(D-'83,E-'84,F-'85 etc)for the year and the eighth digit for engine. If she is an original 5 speed it should be H(LG4),G(L69 but would be a 7 for '83) or F(LB9)but wasn't available with manual till '87 I believe.
Running the VIN thru Carfax is a good idea also.
The interior looks like the custom cloth interior(mainly the seat style/pattern)in my '83 Z28.Are the seatbelt buckles metal push button('82-'83)or red('84 up)?
The single stripe tail lights are Z28(and some mid '80s Sport Coupes). And the nose does look like the '82-'84 Z28 style. And the position of the IROC decal is wrong as mentioned. And is the tire decal still on the driver's door?An IROC will be the only model before '88('89?)with 16" wheels.
I know all these things could be changed but it would be very odd.

Re: Help, what year is this camaro?
As you've probably already figured out, it's probably an 83 Z28. It's got the smaller gfx, 82-84 Z28 front bumper, early interior, early Z taillights, etc.

Re: Help, what year is this camaro?
Thanks everyone, it is a 1983. The tenth digit is D. Does anyone know where I can get a free vehicle history report? They guy said he lost the keys but I want to be sure the car is legit.
