Rear Window Louvers...

I'd love to hear from a member who happens to know where I can get my filty mits on a copy of the install instructions for the 3rd gen. rear window louver - 3 piece style. Is there anyone out there who knows, or better yet, has a set of the install instructions that they're willing to copy for me?

The reason I'm inquiring is, I just bought a set of NOS in the origional box rear window louvers. Which came with everything but the install instructions. Did GM even publish such a critter as install instructions?

Mods, not sure if this is the correct forum to post this question in. If it isn't, please move to the correct forum.

Re: Rear Window Louvers...

What year are the louvers for? Are you sure they are factory originals? I have a copy of the install instructions that I can scan in, but give me a couple days. Where did you find a set that was never used?

Re: Rear Window Louvers...

Hey Scott,

Thanks for answering. Yes, when you find time in your busy schedule, please do scan a copy of the install instructions for me. I'll be much obliged!

The info I have is as follows:

It appears the louvers were made by;
Vista Industries Inc.
6198 King Road
Marine City, Mich. 48039

The louvers were originally shipped to the following address:
Capital Chevrolet Co.
600 Mufreesboro
Nashville, TN 37210

The General Motors part numbers on the original GM box is as follows:
7060
GR. 12. 810
1#999094
(F) Body Sunshade
Distributed by General Motors Corporation,
Detroit, Michigan 48202

As to what year these louvers were made. I honestly don't know. I do know they look just like the originals I have out in the shop that I took off of my 1987 40k mile IROC.

I had taken the originals off my ride with the idea of repainting them, then reinstalling them. But when I ran across a "Buy Now" on E-bay for a set of NOS louvers, I just couldn't pass it up - I bought now!

To those that may be interested, I will be putting up for sale the original set of louvers that originally came installed my ride. Everything is there with the exception of one screw. Installing them as they are now would be a-ok. As they look damn nice as they are. However, one would/should get new double sided tape, along with new rubber isolators for between the louvers and hatch glass.

Re: Rear Window Louvers...

do these louvers have the opening for the third brake light or did they not have them during that year? Do you have any pics?

I have a copy that it appears the dealer gave me when I bought mine. It's not the greatest, but I scanned it in and save it as .pdf for you.

Re: Rear Window Louvers...

As much as I hate to bump a decade old thread, I've referred to Scott's PDFs enough times that I got sick of opening multiple PDFs. So, here's the same instructions, same images even, in a single multi-page PDF.

Credit goes to Scott for scanning the original documents and sharing them.

Thanks for posting that. This will come in handy when I find a set of these 6 months to a year from now!

Re: Rear Window Louvers...

The one thing the instructions aren't very clear about is which set of clips goes where... But if you look at the side clips, they're stamped.

no thank you buddy for asking the million dollar question. I just got a old dusty box with brand new loovers from a cat that’s closing his junk yard. The stickers on box matched your inquiry. I just been having to stand in my garage and cuss 😂
