Can anyone tell me how many 1990 Iroc were made with a 5.7L, 5 speed and with t-tops? Thanks.

Re: 1990 Iroc

None. The 5.7 was only available with a automatic trans.from GM. If you have a 5 speed its a conversion.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: 1990 Iroc

Zero

No 350 / 5-speed combos in these cars sold to the public, EVER.

People put that together all the time though, but it didn't come like that.

Re: 1990 Iroc

3rd gen. Camaros, Firebirds/Trans Ams/Formulas, with the 5.7L, never had this engine with the 5 speed (T5) behind it. So, if someone is trying to sell one saying it is all original, you now know the deal.

Re: 1990 Iroc

Just to add to that, for 1990 there were no T-top IROC 350's. The only way you could have the 350 was as a coupe with the automatic

Re: 1990 Iroc

I have run the engine code...it is a 305. Now I have a new question. With the following RPO codes, can anyone tell me if this is a 1LE?
LB9, J65, G92, UU8, N10, KC4, FE2, GU6, G80, Z28, 1AY. Thanks

Re: 1990 Iroc

Nope, not a 1LE. The RPO for a 1LE is just that, 1LE. That looks like a pretty decentently optioned ride though(LB9, aluminum driveshaft, performance gears, dual cats...).

Re: 1990 Iroc

If that's your car, baron2, with TPI, a 5-speed, t-tops, 4-wheel discs, performance axle ratio, dual cats, etc., it definitely looks like an excellent one. Or if it's one you're looking at buying, I'd say go for it.

Like LaxStreetRacer said, the code for 1LE is 1LE. And the code for an aluminum drive shaft is JG1.

Doh, I must be getting rusty. I thought J65 was aluminum driveshaft, or is that the code for the space saver aluminum spare?

Re: 1990 Iroc

RPO J65 gets you front and rear disk brakes.
RPO JG1 is the aluminum drive shaft.
RPO N64 is the aluminum space saver spare.
RPO N65 is the steel space saver tire.

Re: 1990 Iroc

I wonder if you could have made a special order for the 350/T5?

Re: 1990 Iroc

No. Chevrolet offered very specific packages that even the dealers had to conform too. Even the 1LE, B4C and G92 packages were very specific and followed certain rules.
I have never seen of even heard of a factory built special order for the 350/5spd combination that was ever available through a dealership/customer order. Believe me, many a customer would have tried resulting in many documanted cases of this occuring. It never has. I would love to be proven wrong, believe me. That would be pretty cool.
It also would have raised warrentee issues as well as that's one of the reasons that the stronger 350 wasn't mated to 5 speed.

Yeah I believe they changed it for 1990 due to increasing output from the 5.7 and the fact that the t-top cars had less structural rigidity. Not sure about the 91/92 cars tho.
