Very few were made. (I want to say maybe 14)
I've only seen one in person.
Check out www.gtasourcepage.com for all sorts of good info.

As TAdan said, a total of 14 52U Yellow GTAs were built and shipped to US dealers. Canadian and/or export numbers are not known.
I've never seen one before in person (photos only), but apparently they were a popular site at the recent Pontiac Nationals.

Sorry, gonna have to get in line after me!!! I've been looking for one forever. Saw one at The TA Nats last year, never found the owner though. Here's some candy...

Re: 1992 yellow GTA
I spoke with the owner for a bit. He was a nice guy, there with his family. If I remember correctly he had done a bit of resto work to the car (there was a little evidence of paint work), but it was still pretty original and clean.
After the show I heard him say "I'm never coming back here again" after seeing the judging results. (If you were there and saw the results than you know what I am talking about
)
I hope he does bring the car back. It was a real treat to see such a rare one.

I took more pictures of that car than any other car at the Nats last year, literally. I really need a Yellow one so I can complete my "Stoplight" collection so to say. I have a red one, need a yellow one and have a green one!
As for the judging I have heard some fun stories, and should find out first hand this year. Taking my 2600 mile GTA, we'll see how that goes.

Re: 1992 yellow GTA
Who spends hours upon hours working on, spending money on their baby and then really honestly cares what someone else thinks??
Its a 6 maybe 10 dollar trophy, who cares really????
I go to have fun.
Its all about meeting people with luv for the same type of cars I do..
I tell them not to even judge my car when I go to shows...

Do tell your experiences.... I've seen some creative choices up there, to say the least. Good luck to you.... but be sure they know about the gray valve-stem caps. I'd hate to see you end up in the "Light Modified" Class....Tony, you're right.... but it's somewhat galling to see such disparity in the classing/judging at what is billed as a "national" show. If you go with no expectations, it'll probably be the best show you ever attended. If you have any, then you could be in for a huge disappointment regardless of how nice and/or correct your car is.

I dont want to get into my "experiences" here. It is water under the bridge.
The show, the people, and the cars are an absolute blast.
I am hoping to help out on the tech line this year... So no worries about grey valve stem caps (as long as they are appropriate,
)

Re: 1992 yellow GTA
I doubt I'll have the gtrey valve caps by then, a memeber on here from London found them but I doubt I'll have them by the show. So no explaining necessary.
Frankie you are totally right, if you go into it just to have fun and no expectations besides a great time then you will have more fun than if you expect to win or something like that.
I am going purely to have a great time with a ton of other people that share the same passion. I am getting the car ready to MY standards not bc I think it should win but just bc I want people to look at it and notice the details, because the details make all the differnece in the end. And if you get one judge that gives your car a 94 and the other gives your car a 83 then we all know there is some BS going on there.

TAdan, I wasn't necessarily talking about your experiences (or mine, for that matter), but RPM's. I hope the event continues to improve because the expense involved in attending something like that continues to increase; that alone will cause some to discontinue attending.... they don't need any help in other areas of dissatisfaction. But if you and others like you help out with Tech, they'll have a lot more parity in the show field.... which is everybody's main gripe anyway.
Best of luck to you all. Wish I could go and see a lot of you there, but it just wasn't in the wallet this year.
Re: 1992 yellow GTA
Last year was my first year attending and I was unable to bring my 92 car, so it was a lot of fun bc there was no concern about the car. Drove down on Sat morn and left mid day Sun. Tipp City and all. I have heard on other sites that the judging was very incosistent and that people were somewhat displeased. No personal experience to speak of yet.
I know what you mean about the cost of it all Frankie. Between the truck and the trailer and hotel and all else this is my vacation for the year. I can definitely see how someone would be discouraged after spending all that time and money and then not being judged or classified properly. Nothing worse than bring a stock class prepped car and bc of chrome valve stems and caps being put into light modified, sure you'll clean up but it was not why you came there.
Here's hoping for the best...
TADan if you're in the tech lane keep an eye out for me, come by and say Hi.
Should be arriving Fri night but may not tech until Sat.
