Re: 1983 camaro LT???

The "S" in your vin# means its a Berlinetta model. Not an LT model.

Usually, when a car has the term 'limited' in the name, it means 'limited to how many we can sell' . . .

Re: 1983 camaro LT???

The only 3rd gen to get the LT designation was the 1987 LT which was an option package on the SC.

LT or LTD indicates Limited, it really means nothing in particular as some cases they made more Limited variations than other variations within the same year. It would be easy to assume that there was a limited production run, but in reality it rarely was the case.

LT, LTD, Limited etc usually was a luxury package, or well equipped. They rarely were a Performance designation, I have never seen a car that was called a LT that was Performance intended.

John
LT in the Camaro case was for "Luxury Touring." Basically a Berlinetta with a rear stabilizer bar, F41 suspension, amber turn signals, LT nameplates on the sail panels and on the horn button, 14" base steel wheels with hubcaps or berlinetta style non-gold wheels. And no digital dash. The LT could have been a nice performer if GM would have allowed the individual option selections prior to 1987. Personally, if I could have ordered it at the time, I would have wanted the 350 with the rear discs, 3.73 gears, fully loaded (minus t-tops) and the 16" black diamond spoked wheels. Basically the Chevy Firebird Formula of sorts.

Re: 1983 camaro LT???

I am pretty sure that the LT was NA with the 350, or any TPI for that matter. They were only offered with the Base V6 and the LG4 (4bbl) V8...

Re: 1983 camaro LT???

Oh I know they were only available with v-6 or LG4. I actually have an LG4 LT. But like I said, if I was able to (some sort of special order at the time which more than likely not possible.) Hell, i've even seen an LT or two with base guages with idiot lights.
