B4C or Not ??

So I found a 91 R/S for sale that is a 5.7 with a posi rear end. The car says R/S no spolier no blisters. The vin has an 8 and car fax says Z28. The seller says it was a special order car for the FBI. He also says its not a B4C. Its an RS. So is the only real way to tell by the RPO Codes? or is it a Z28 and somebody took off Spolier changed the hood.

Re: B4C or Not ??

I would check the RPO's if you are serious interested, sounds like a B4C to me. That would be the only way to get an RS with the L98. There is nothing with a Z28 in the VIN to identify it as a Z28 or RS. The only thing you can check is the engine, as only the Z28 came with the LB9 (F) or the L98 (8), UNLESS you got the B4C hence you could have gotten a L98 or LB9/M5 for special duity.

I would not hound him about the particulars, just look at it and if it has 1LE or B4C buy it! Unless he wanted a million dollars for it.

I have a 91 B4C as well. On the title it does say Z28, but on the rpo code list there is no Z28. Car fax says mines a Z28 also. I dont know why. My guess is because only a Z28 got a TPI motor.

All I got to say is if it is a nice car at a nice deal and it has B4C, jump on it, do not argue, do not point it out, his loss your gain. What he does not know will not hurt him.

Re: B4C or Not ??

Thanks for the input I am looking at it this sunday. I think it is a b4c unless somebody turned a Z28 in to a rs. I have seen stranger things so anything is possible. I did the Carfax and it says Z28 but RPO codes will tell the truth.

No, The RPO codes say Z28 not B4C. Looking at the pictures it has the RS hood 82-90 rear hatch RS badges. It does have fog lights with the red bow grill. I ended up buying a real 91Z G92 for $2600 with a new paint job tires that needs no work. I think its still for sale o craigslist for $2000.00 now.
