Are a Fiero and Firebird AT shift ***** the same?
Looking at buying an AT shift **** for the TA, re-done by Dallas Steering Wheel in grey leather. They have them in stock for a Fiero. It LOOKS the same...I assume it is?

Re: Are a Fiero and Firebird AT shift ***** the same?
i believe they are because theres a few pictures and people i personally know that have swapped camaro shift ***** in there. the fiero shifter also has the pin in the back of it just like the t/a. so im willing to bet that they are without any issue at all
Re: Are a Fiero and Firebird AT shift ***** the same?
Firebird and Fiero are identical. Some other Pontiacs of the same time period are the same as well, like the Sunbirds, etc.

There's a guy over at pennocks fiero forum in the mall section that does great work recovering shift *****. Heck there's even a guy that makes digital dash gauge clusters for those cars on there.

Re: Are a Fiero and Firebird AT shift ***** the same?
Thanks guys...they want $105 for a recovered ****. Mine is in good shape, leather-wise...its just very dirty. I cannot believe the amount of crap I've gotten off of it already with Zaino leather cleaner. I've turned one entire wax applicator black. For 31,000 miles, I don't know what the previous owners of this car had on their hands, but the **** was almost black on top.
If I continue scrubbing it, maybe it will be fine. It isn't ripped or anything. I figured it'd be nice to have a fresh **** to match a fresh wheel, but for $105 I may keep scrubbing

Charlie,
www.dallassteeringwheel.com is the company I've been talking to, off and on, since I got the TA. I do not have a wheel from them yet, but am planning on it after the first of the year. They charge $299 for a color-matched, OEM quality re-wrapped and reconditioned leather steering wheel. If you are thinking of one for one of your two (even my IROC with a lousy 21k on it has a little bit of wear at 12:00 position), they do not have one in stock for a Camaro right now, but said they get them in and sell them often. Their site shows pics of re-done leather Camaro wheels.

Ooh, exactly the one I need for my '83.

300 bucks is a little steep though, that Chuck Pelton (??) guy in Michigan will redo yours for about half that if you supply the wheel.

Charlie,
Where can I get contact info for him? If I can get the wheel redone for half that, and the shift **** off the guy on the Fiero forum, I'm golden
Now all I need is to get the eBay guy to accept my offer on an old-school '93 Pontiac CD player he's selling (he even adds 3.5mm aux jacks to them for my iPod!), and the interior of the TA is almost done!
