Re: rpo codes question

Do a search for factory invoice and you'll find a discussion that you can contact GM Media Archives. They will send you a copy of the original factory to dealer invoice that also lists the RPOs. It does cost though and I'm not up on their current price structure for this service.

So I can take the vin from my 91 to the dealership and have them print off a sheet with all the codes? Sweet!

Re: rpo codes question

You can go to compnine.com and access the same information the dealer has from the comfort of your home...

Re: rpo codes question

Or if it's Canadian. The pre 1990 years that are in the database are Z49 (Canadian Exports). There's been a few members here who have stated they've gotten RPO codes from their VIN from their local dealership, or Compnine, as a Z49 car.

Re: rpo codes question

And just to add to JT's response, GM Canada kept records from 1980 on. So, I've run all of my VINs and got the results. This has been great for comparing with the accuracy of CompNine - which so far has been great for Canadian cars.

The problem is that US cars are not in the system. I've tried to run at least a half-dozen US cars through my local GM dealership and no results.

It seems that Canada and US had two independent record systems (and never the twain shall meet). So, I don't know if the information will ever be complete.

Re: rpo codes question

You can also find them inside your console, under the lid IIRC. Then you can download the RPO decoder from Thirdgen and have fun.
