My car.... Only difference is I'd get Blue instead of Bright Red. And black interior instead of Dove grey.
1989 IROC-Z
L-98, Auto
T-tops, A/C, cruise, power mirrors, power drivers seat, PW, PL
4-wheel disc brakes
Posi
16" IROC wheels
Bose stereo
T-top shades, rear compartment blind thing.. whatever they called it.
Dual cats.. high flow exhaust
But my IROC is my dream car... love it. Even more so than my 2001 SS Camaro... Sure wish I could go back in time and buy a new one.

I would love to have been able to order an '88 Trans Am.
LB9/5 Speed
Digital Dash
T-tops
Upgraded sound system
Bright Red
Beechwood interior
Cloth seats
It's funny though, I only have 4 of these things on my car, but I love it anyway.

I would settle more realisticaly though for my car, factory fresh. And the ability to buy T-Ram's, and Dana 44's readily available from the aftermarket.

Re: If you could order a brand new third gen, what would it be?
its such a hard decision, but it would have to be either an 89 or 87 blue (silver accenting) iroc-z, l98, auto, hardtop, rear window louvers, power everything, black delux interior, fully loaded pretty much. the reason i cant decide between the 87 and 89 is the 87 has the delux interior i like best, and the 89 has the wheels i like (and same year im born). wouldnt mind a stock white 86 like mine before it was transformed

Re: If you could order a brand new third gen, what would it be?
I've been fortunate enough to get to order exactly what I wanted--twice, and I'd order each one again today. I've ordered three new ones, but 1982 was my first, and I was so excited that I didn't care what it had on it. But after that, I got very specific and ordered for performance and a 5-speed:
1983 Z28 HO, Black ext., Charcoal int., T-Tops, L69/T5/3.73.
When the '83 was stolen in 1986, I ordered my current thirdgen:
1987 Formula, Black ext., Med. Dk. Grey int., T-Tops, LB9/T5/3.45.
The only change today would be to NOT order A/C on either car(had to order it to please dad). And I wanted the Charcoal interior(like in the '83) in the Formula, but it wasn't available after '84.
Both cars were "milestones" in thirdgen history, and that's what I'd order again. Of course I'd order a Firehawk too, lol. And I'd put more miles on it one year than all previous Firehawks combined have accumulated in 20 years, because I don't "enshrine" my cars, I DRIVE them.

always wanted a formula 350, 87-88ish. i drove a few new ones back then but couldnt afford one. i had to settle for my first thirdgen, an 84 z-28, back in 88. been in luv with these cars ever since. its my addiction, lol.

Never got to that point though, as my funds weren't sufficient at the time going into college
Even stripped down, they were pretty pricey, at least for my budget during those years. Member

2nd Choice
1990 IROC convertible in black with red interior, red stripes, L98/Auto. Not sure if G92 was available or not on the vert but if it was then added and all power/lighting group with CD.

Once I got past all of the bling bling 3rd gen combos, I'd also order a strippo '82 Sport Coupe. LG4 being it's only option, hooked to a BW T10. And yes...........I'd get the base steelie wheels with dog dish hubcaps.

Re: If you could order a brand new third gen, what would it be?
First I would buy my 1988 IROC just as it is. Dark red, L98, T-Tops, level 3 package options. I would want the G92 rear axle to. I wish I had that with my car now.
Second I would want to buy a teal 1992 Z28 L98 with all the options, even the factory cd player. I've always liked that color and I wanted a car like that.
Third I would want a red 1984 Z28 L69 5-speed with 3.73 gears and T-Tops. I'd also want the Lear Siegler seat option that says Camaro over the fabric.

My car, except with the L69 instead of the weaksauce LG4 and the T5 instead of the slushbox. And a rear wiper because they're rare and I like how they look lol.
Second would be a 1992 1LE Z with the A/C delete and the LB9/ 5 speed.
And of course the TTA and the Firehawk

Re: If you could order a brand new third gen, what would it be?
There are 3 combos I would want...
1) My EXACT IROC, adding performance axle and option group #3 so I could get the power seat and mirrors...and as crappy as it is today, back then I would've ordered Bose
2) 92 GTA LB9/5 speed/t-top in Polo Green with tan leather
3) 89 Formula 350 t-top in Black or Bright Red with grey cloth
My ultimate goal is to own one of those two Firebird combos
I would actually prefer the 89 so that I can get a 350/t-top...unless I was lucky enough to come across one of the uber-rare 91-92 Formula 350 t-top cars

Re: If you could order a brand new third gen, what would it be?
For my first choice, I have to go with my sentimental favorite, an 1982 Pace Car with t-tops and CFI.
Next would be my former car: an '84 Z/28, black, L69, 5 spd, t-tops, 3.73 gears and LS interior with the much-maligned "Camaro Camaro Camaro" cloth.
Last would be an '88 350 Formula in Marina Blue with grey cloth interior. Love that combination and definitely my all time favorite non-Camaro third gen.

Re: If you could order a brand new third gen, what would it be?
This is easy, I'd order a 1983 z28 HO fully loaded. Basically my exact car but with the l69 and 5 speed with 3.73 (only I would want posi and rear discs which I'm not sure was available in 83 on the HO).
And honestly, I think it'd be interesting to see an iron duke car in brand new condition. Just saying

A 1982 Trans Am, yellow with black interior (if you could order it that way), T-tops, PMD seats, LG4, M4, 4 wheel disc, that is my dream thirdgen.
Or my 1986 T/A the day it rolled off the assembly line at Norwood. I would have loved to see it brand new, but I'll have to settle for seeing it restored when its all done.
