86 black iroc

In Sheridan, Arkansas, exactly half a block from the center of town there is a 86 black iroc that hasn't been driven in over 6 years or more. I asked the guy about the car 4 years ago and he stated that the car was his sons and that he would sell it for the right price. The car is in fairly good shape and is all original. I can't beleive it is still there and someone hasn't bought it. The whole town drives by it everyday since it is on the main road going through town. There is a 4th gen sitting beside it that is daily driven. I thought I would end up with it but his son is never there.

Yea, tell me about it i spotted a 87 grand national in a guys driveway sitting for 3 years in the winter and everything. Finnaly one summer i worked up the courage to drive over there and he was outside. I told him how beautiful it was and how much of a fan i am of them. It was his 1st car and he doesnt have room for it, hence why its outside. I asked him if he would ever sell it. He said " For the right price" i said if im interested il be back with my dad. Because my dad loves those cars as well, so i showed up a couple days after that with my dad he showed me the car 30k miles, was in a couple fender benders, but rust wise was clean. I asked him whats your price, his response 25,000, my response have a nice day sir. lol But moral of the story go over there and ask "right price" could be 1500 bucks. If you do ask do tell him that the longer a car sits, especially outside the more work it will need. Animals could be living in it. all the gaskets dryrot when not used. It could be a cluster. I bought a Buick that sat for years in a barn. No start turns out mice made a home under the carpeting and ate the wires going to the pcm. lol Just giving you helpful hints sir.

Yeah you never know till you ask, At this point if you do get the car I would factor in fuel pump replacment/tank drain, all the fluids just to start on tops of what you would get the car for.

Very true, its just a shame that people figure, its got low miles its worth 10,000 dollers and up. Little do they know that the lower the miles the longer it sits the more damage it does. Especially with corvettes the owners when you tell them your 78 vette needs valve cover gasket, lower intake gasket, oil pan gasket, trans pan gasket, tires because there dryrotted, power steering lines, fuel lines, brake lines, gas tank. The look on their face is its a corvette and it only has 20k miles i drive it 50 miles a year and you almost wanna say yup and thats why you need all this. lol Cars are meant to be driven. Not sitting. Now dont get me wrong kept in a heated garage, never seen salt, and regularly driven. You wouldnt see all this lol

I wish you good luck sir. Yea while its running check for leaks, check for engine nosie while you accelerate, make sure no ticking or knocking, check for rust on the underbody, the rear wheel wells, they like to rot out . I dont know where your from so i dont know how bad cars rust by you. Personnaly if the guy is asking 1,800, everything you see wrong with it mention it. And i would bring 1,500 cash and offer 1,300, cash is king good sir. lol His bottom dollar could be a grand for all you know lol. Buying cars is a game that takes quite a while to get good at. lol So good luck and i hope yoiu get it. My neighbor had a iroc-z when i was a kid it woke me up everyday he would come home late at night. I vowed when i owned a F body, I would do the same thing. Instead he moved out got married. Never got the chance to do the same. lol just out of fun and games. lol let me know how it went im always glad to hear someone purchased a f body.

Oh yeah, My 87 TA only has 50,144 miles right now and the intake leaks, the valve cover seep, the rear main leaks, Runs good, but leaks-not gushes, my 92 3.1 RS with 108,600 might drip 1 small drop of oil a month. Also the TA had to have a tank drain, fuel pump, full tune up and new PCM when I first got it last year with 49K on the clock. I do keep the miles down on it, but start it once a week year around and in the nice months try to at least let it wram up and take if for a short hard spin.

Yes, you have the right idea keeping things moving in the right direction, in my opinion i cant not own something and not drive it. Example if i had a 1987 buick gnx with 8 miles on it you better believe it would have 20,000 miles in a year or 2. lol. My Formula has 136k miles. lol It has the rust to proove it, im at the point with it that im waiting to figure if its worth it to me to restore it.Mine has the same issues as yours oil seepage from everywhere. but its a 305 its what they were born to do with use. lol But again in my opinion on a nice summer day with the t tops off and full exhaust in the background its just a all around good feeling that why i like f bodys so much. You talk to any other journeymen/mechanic who worked on them when they were new. They will say 2 words Rattle Trap. lol When they say that i say ' I love my rattle trap" lol And still the firebird is still damn near tied with the corvette with being the most aerodynamic sport car ever produced. lol
