Well, that's ugly.
Why do 1LE owner's always try to say they have a "swinging fuel pickup"? And where did the - in 1-LE come from? LOL Oh well, it's better than LE-1, guess he's learning.

Re: 700 mile 1LE. $44K
.... Id guess somewhere back in the day, a magazine writer generalized how they understood the extended fuel as a swinging pickup in order to reach the corners of the tank. The reality was that it was simply an extended pickup - and a rather simple design at that.
The cars are less about fact and more about the stories. This one time at band camp ...

I just can't imagine parroting a fact from a magazine without knowing for certain. Pretty sure there's a listing in the classifieds right now for a 1LE with the "swinging pickup". Just funny how a rumor, myth, tall tale is so firmly entrenched when it's easily been proven false.
It gives me the impression that 1LE folks are more interested in the story than reality.

LOL! You guys are all upset about swinging pickups and unconcerned about "T.P.L." engines or "EFI carburator"?

If there is one thing I've come to understand ... the "story" is what make it all worth while. No one talks about facts, but they do talk in stories. Human nature.
You should hear the racing stories ... I'm sure they are less based on fact and more from emotion and failing memories.

Wish I could afford it, I'd drive the hell out of it like I just bought it off the showroom floor.

Our cars look so right with Goodyear Gatorbacks. I wish Kelsey Tire would stop picking it's butt and start reproducing them for us!

While I don't necessarily care about it being whatever it is on paper, I've always loved the red interior on white. Put the proper white door molding on it, lower it two inches and BAM! -got me a driver!!!!!!!!!!
But I'm glad there are those of you who appreciate the history enough to own and maintain these examples. Seriously, because otherwise I'd feel guilty modding mine the way I do!
...and I'll take a swinging pickup ANYDAY over an original 86 350 car, verified by a dealer 20 years ago!!!! I'm sure most of you read that one, right? -if not participated, lol
