New the forum and looking to purchase a 3rd gen convertible. Came across this in my local CL listing and was hoping to get your expert options on it. Any notes on originality, things that don't looks right, etc would be appreciated. Looking for a summer car and striving originality as oppose to tuning. I've attached some pics from the post but there's a few more to look at in the actual listing. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the input. Forgot to mention that the price is in Canadian. After exchange it comes to about $8200 USD. Any reason why you guys would price it at $5000? No extra value added for having 66k mileage?

I consider 66K as medium miles. Nice car and all, but as has been mentioned, not an IROC-Z. $6K is not out of line, though.
Pretty crazy how prices are that much higher in Canada, at least in Vancouver here. IROC convertibles locally are going between 19k - 23k CAD (14200 - 17200 USD). One sold off CL last week for 19500 CAD in about 5 days.
Is that the steering wheel that RS’s came with? They didn’t have the same as the IROC?
I agree with the $5-6k. No one is hunting down RS’s and marking them up.. an IROC with that mileage could go around $10-12k in this market if mint and the right options.. a dealer would ask $15-16k and maybe $7k for RS Vert with 66k miles

What really kills this car in question, isn't so much that it's just an RS. It's boring even for an RS. The vanilla wrapper red paint, the 15" wheels, it's all just very dated, subdued, and boring. At least 91-92 RS's have optional 16" wheels, nicer gfx, the updated dash, modern steering wheel, etc...
Hate to say it, but if I had that car, I'd clone an Iroc with it. It wouldn't add much more value than the cost of the parts, but it'd be more enjoyable, easier to look at, and a lot easier to sell.

I'm with you 100%......change the hood, tail lights, wheels, steering wheel, dash emblem, decal kit, grille, paint the headlight buckets, and enjoy the hell outta that thing.

The base 15 inch '82 Z28 style wheels were standard on all RS's through 1992. However, 1991-92 RS's with the V8 got the 1991-92 Z28 style wheels standard, which makes it really easy to tell a 1991-92 V6 car.

Are you sure all v8 rs had the 91-92 z28 wheels? My stockish 91 rs with a factory v8 had the 82 style. I wouldnt make much of it but the only other owner was obsessed with keeping his cars stock.

I disagree, not everything needs to be an IROC.
That car just needs better tires, a serious 2 step paint correction to bring the paint back, some cleaning and dressing, and maybe either refinish the wheels to be the normal silver/machined finish and it will look just fine - not sure if the wheels have been rattle canned plain gray or if that was a factory finish but I don't recall seeing that. Wouldn't hurt to lower it 2" either...an RS can look good when done in an OEM+ style.

I agree not all need to be IROC clone. It really depends on the car to me. I think with a bland red or white car a louver hood and iroc decals jazz it up. A car like yours Id leave as is it already looks great and stands out.
Lowering Id have to pass on its already hard enough to avoid scraping lol.

Your RS is much nicer looking.. much better color and I actually prefer the T-Top look with the RS.. I generally prefer metallic paint on these cars anyway..
I wouldn’t make it an IROC but would maybe benefit from 91 RS 16” wheels with red inlay and some nice tires.. maybe even do the 91/92 ground effects.. something to make that plain red paint more interesting.. Do 91/92 taillights..
I saw a black 92 RS Vert 5-speed for sale that was pretty mint and a good price.. I thought about snagging it.. I would have kept it factory showroom RS..
