Re: 5 speed third gens for sale
It's the opposite of nearly every thirdgen you find for sale. This one has all the mechanicals done and just needs a seat cover and a paint job. That's what has made it challenging to sell, people assume it's junk and I'm dreaming trying to get $4500 out of it, when in reality $4500 is a bargain. How many cars look like this but have a freshly rebuilt T5 with a Pro 5.0 shifter and a PBR disc rear with a brand new Torsen limited slip and a stud girdle? 17x9.5 and 17x11 wheels with new tires? TBI 350 swap with proper tuning? The list goes on. I'm taking a loss selling the car but I've got to free up space in my personal life for family.

Well here's a killer buy! 1989 G92 5 speed. I wonder if it's a DX3 stripe delete car. Looks like it has the 5,500rpm tach, so its probably an N10 dual cat, 230hp car, too. She looks a little rough, and it's a Canadian car. That's a lot of car for the money!

This car seems a little fishy......
airbag wheel in 88!
rear TPI emblem way off
says leaks in the ad
repaint
radio/gauges replaced
carpet is the wrong color
I guess it doesn't say stock, so all of those things won't be negatives to everyone...

That car isn't going anywhere at that price. It's been for sale a long time and probably not going anywhere, anytime soon. For 43k miles, it sure has a long list of problems!

Thinking about going to take a look at this. Needs a few tacky things deleted off of it but looks like a clean car. What would be a good price to shoot for on this?

Re: 5 speed third gens for sale
That 88 is nice and the price is good... I’d bet if someone doesn’t pick it up it’ll get flipped on EBay...
I’m guessing it’s Flame Red but hard to tell in that lighting.. I tried to read the RPO tag for the paint code... Orange is 63 Flame Red is 74
If it’s orange it’s a pretty rare car to have in a stick no less!

Re: 5 speed third gens for sale
I posted a link to a Facebook ad up a few posts and I ended up buying the car. It's a 91 Z28, 305 TPI, 5 speed with 141k on it. I got it for $4300.
It runs and drives well but needs some things. I ordered new shocks/struts for it and am going to rebuild the front steering components. It will need tires soon as well. It's all original minus a flowmaster muffler and Kenwood stereo (original stereo came with). It's got a few dings/scratches here and there but shows pretty well for a 91. Overall, I am pleased with it.
The seller also gave me a 2005 5.3 he had no use for. I have an aluminum 5.3 L33 as well which I will likely forge and swap in at some point. I've owned five 4th Gens with my most recent one being a turbo car that turned into too much of a racecar. This one is going to remain a driver.

Guy replied back. Nice guy, car has a few small issues(cruise, AC). Has original paint and no options. Firm at 10k. A lot of new parts. Only rust is under the rear bumper.
Hey man. message me on fb if you can please. Wanted to go over some information on this car.

Re: 5 speed third gens for sale
I think $7500-8500 is fair for the blue one... It looks really well kept and not hacked up so you have to pay a premium for that.
My 87 got to over 100k miles though and even though it was very well kept and still looked like it did inside and out as when it had 20k miles, the gremlins start taking hold around 100k miles. Car just didn’t drive as nice, feel as tight and little things start breaking. Like AC, Power Locks get weak, Cruise breaks, Power mirrors stop working, constantly chasing oil leaks, etc..
These cars can be a mild headache over 100k Miles even if well kept..
