History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Thought you might enjoy seeing this. This is the original panel that was installed on the inside of the rear hatch, under the wing. The decal installers removed it and installed one that they had signed, after installing the decals. GM sent me the original, so I’d have both. They were not allowed to ship it in the car.

Options and miles on this last 3rd gen?
Thanks. Manny
125.4 miles. Options......wheel paint delete, L98, auto, Heritage Package, red leather, CD player, power seat, power windows and locks, block heater. Just going from memory, so there might be a couple other things.
Moving to North Dakota. That’s where I grew up and it’s time to get back home.
Best of luck with your move. Such a cool piece of history to own. And the long winters/short driving season won't be a factor for you with your limited use of your classic.
Leonard, thank you for preserving this gorgeous car. I was 13 and fantasized about these cars as yours was going across the assembly line. Never thought I'd actually own one. Glad you are the caretaker of yours so future generations will see it and its history.

Very nice! It's interesting looking at your pictures of the assembly - I didn't realize that they actually built Camaro's and Firebirds right on the same line like that. I see in some pictures it looks like the 2nd to last car was a black Firebird. At least it's in front of the last Camaro anyway. I would have thought them too different to assemble at the same time - interior wise, etc.

You are correct, it was a black Firebird. Someone ran a CarFax on it a few years ago and the car had been totaled. Building Camaro’s and Firebird’s on the same line didn’t seem to present any problems. It’s a common practice to build Chevy’s, GMC’s, Buick’s, Cadillac’s on the same line.
That is very cool. Should be in a museum so others can appreciate this.
I have a 92’ RS 305 auto car and my radiator hoses and everything else on the car is dated 8-92, and it’s number 66,212 which is 3700+ away from this car. My mom bought it new, and has given it to me. Tried to buy it from her for years. Been garaged since late 90’s.
