Well I dont believe it is. But I am not sure. I decoded the VIN in the decoder on this site, I compared it to mine which is an IROC. So you can see the difference, mine says Z28 the one on Ebay doesnt....

It could have been an iroc when it was new, and up until this tool got a hold of it... There's so little of the original hardware left on this car that there's no reason to even consider if its an iroc or not, since everythign thats iroc has been removed from the car. He's changed the wheels, shocks, struts, springs, steering wheel, hood, etc... The entire car is a pieced together hotrod...
The VIN won't distinguish if its a Z28, it'll only distinguish if the car is a berlinetta or not.
Given the condition, mileage, etc of this car its not an Iroc. It may have been at one time, but its not now. And I find it hard to believe someone would dispose of the iroc parts and replace them with crap. I'd say the guy listed it as an Iroc for the same reason he says its a 350 5spd.

sunroof?
did any third gen come with a sunroof? I don't think so...
granted he prob took a hacksaw and chopped one into the roof.
I'm sorry those rims do not look good on that car and that red pin stripe has to go!

I notice that the foglamps are way too large, and the stereo appears to be out of a Pontiac. It also appears to have the ride height of a RS, not an IROC. Only IROC parts I see on the car are the badges and taillights.

Well, if he changed the springs, that might explain the ride height. He goes on to say the 305 was taken out for a 350 and that he replaced auto transmission with standard. If you look at the stick, you'll only see a rubber boot, which means he left the center console in from the auto which doesn't have the vinyl cover that comes with 5 speeds... this says he's telling the truth about the tranny swap and thus probably about the engine swap. The car looks clean and he does imply very subtly that the sunroof was not stock, by stating that it doesn't leak. I would bet that this guy is actually selling an IROC...
My conclusion... it is what he says it is.
I don't like the wheels though, nor the single 3" outlet exhaust. I also can't understand why he painted over the IROC-Z decal on the door... was he ashamed of owning an IROC?

The only thing that will tell you if it started life as an IROC is if it has "B4Z" on the RPO sticker. You may or may not be able to get the RPO info from the VIN due to the age of the car.

B4Z won't be there. IN 89, the Z28 RPO code designated it as an IROC. Plus, in 89, the IROC was the ONLY camaro you could get the LB9 in, so that alone proves that it's an IROC.
