Signal control lever help...

Hey guys...
When I bought my '82 TA it's signal control lever it was busted off with just the metal lower arm part remaining with a few wires sticking out the end of it. Here's pic of it currently below. I've since bought a NOS lever; is this a tough repair to make? Is it going to invlove taking apart any of the steering column to replace it? Thanks.

the lever should just pull out, with a little muscle, and you should be able to line up and pop the new one in, the end piece has grooves so it only goes in one way.

So just grab the arm that's left there & pull it straight out towards the driver's door? New one just pushes right into place? What about the wiring?

cruise control wires are fished thru the column, they are a major PITA

If you dont much care for bein perfect you can run them on the outside of the column

Only about 3" of wire will be exposed before they dissapear under the dash

OK...but the lever arm iteself still just pulls straight out & the new one pops straight in? Do the end of the wires for the cruise actually plug into something inside the steering column or under the dash?

The stalk pulls out yes, you have enuff slack wire to do this
Wire is ran thru the column, its difficult to wiggle it out because the plug snags everything, Ive never been successful at fishing the new plug back thru it
THe plug-in is under the dash, if I remember right its a very thin black coated wire in a very strange exposed wire end, the harness plug I think is clear/white

Been a while since I looked

Tie a string to the other end of the wire harness. Pull them out with the string attatched, re tie your string to the new wiring and pull it all back through. Plug in the new handle. Done deal.
