Post pictures of factory carpet floor mats
I'd like to see pictures of factory carpet floor mats. I want to buy new mats but the ones pictured on Modern Day Muscle's web site just look like universal fit mats whereas their rubber mats look like they're made to fit these cars. When I bought my car the factory front mats were replaced with some crappy ugly rubber mats so I don't even know what the factory mats look like. Thanks.

Damn, dont have any good pictures...
Anyway the factory floormats are side specific, meaning that the drivers side one is specifically meant and shaped differently than the passenger side floormat. I think that any aftermarket (whether its a GM NOS or not) floormat is going to be 2 universal floormats that are shaped the same. I had a pair of GM NOS floor mats for my RS and while they were universally shaped they actually fit better than the factory (shaped) ones.

Ya, well I got those Chevy Racing ones you can find in any store for like 30 bucks and it was a mistake. They are all like rolled up and stuff becuase they can't fit with the contour of the cars dips and whatnot in the floor, atleaset try to get somthing that is speciffically made for our cars. The ones on Modern Day Muscle look good to me, but don't take my word.

I contacted Modern Day Muscle a couple weeks ago about that, thinking exactly what you though. And they are GM nos, but unfortunately, they are not thirdgen specific. They're universal. So I bought a set of rear mats anyway to see how the medium grey color match was. And it's very light, not close at all. Eh, they were inexpensive... I'll find a use for them somewhere around here.
And yes, those rubber mats do look like a better fit, though I think they're for 4thgens.
The mats offered by MDM for 4thgens look model-specific, and I've read that people have used 4thgen mats in thirdgens. I don't think they're an exact fit or color-match, but they'd prolly fit better than a universal mat.

I have Dark red carpet and seats with black accents. I went to Walmart and picked up some black carpet mats, they look like they could have came factory.
I don't have any pictures either, but I can say for sure the driver's side was a flat mat, while the passenger's side was molded to fit the floor contours. I ordered my 83 from the factory with the factory mats.
I've been looking for some factory styled mats, but haven't had any luck.
