Color Change of the Interior

I have a 92 RS with the gray interior and I was wondering how much of a pain in the *** would it to change it to the red interior. Also, since it tends to show dirt and fades to a horrendous light pink with age, was wondering if I should do black carpets intstead of the red. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: Color Change of the Interior

It's pretty easy really as far as the actual swap. Just unbolt and unscrew the old.. put in the new. I've taken an entire interior out in 35 mins with a little help.
Had a bet with the junkyard guy.. said there was no way I could get it all out before they closed and if I did I could have it free. I took everything from the firewall to the back panel.

Your challenge is in finding the interior parts in red and in good shape.

HEy i recently posted the same exact thing as you a few monthes ago, and what i went about doing , after alot of research of course is get get Fabric paint, i used DUPLIcolor BLACK and it came out amazing, just be sure that if you do do this then you cover everything you dont want painted in painters tape, i also got Plastic Spray paint for my Rear hatch trim(those ugly grey trim pieces) if you have any questions let me know

I have done a interior sway front to back. It is not that hard. I would install new black carpet instead of red. In the long run you will be happier.

Re: Color Change of the Interior

If you buy good carpet that doesn't fade, the red will look very good. Unfortunately, most people buy ACC and have pink carpet after 6 months.

There is carpet out there that won't fade as badly. PM me for info.

Red interiors look sick on these 3rd gens! If you paint//dye something, spend the extra $$ and use quality products...

Re: Color Change of the Interior

I live where there is alot of red clay, so my grey interior floor is now orange, this is why I feel black might be the more practical choice for floor carpetting. Anyone out there that has black carpet and red every where else will you post some pictures for me? I don't feel it will look to bad as my dash etc is black. And as far as brands go, please feel free to recommend some good quality to go with.

Yeah I have an 89RS with the horrendous pink interior, thinking of going black/gray.
