drool at that junkyard nice clean stones everywhere instead of dirt/oil/antifreeze/mud mix

 

Problem is alot of the vehicles in the yard (roughly 4000) are pretty picked over

 

Goddamn... I love junkyards. I cant wait to go to the Pick N Pull in PA.

Yep. Definately some nice models in there. Some formulas, Irocs, some had rare options

Is this junkyard these pics were taken in a u-pick it type place? I hate the jy's where you can't go in or pick parts yourself. I ask because I am in west central MO, and am SERIOUSLY considering going to the jy for my summer roadtrip. But only if I pick parts myself.

 

Yeah. Its Speedway Auto Salvage. $1 to get in and you pick whatever you want. Theres only a few guys that really run the entire yard and they just sit at the front entrance usually
Dont get your hope up on tha place. Some times those cars get picked over pretty good

 

the u pull it down the street charges 2 bucks to get in those *******s!! probably because everyone steals all their parts

 

I go to quite a few yards that charge 2 dollars admission.Some charge 1 dollar and there are others ive been to that dont charge admission at all

 

Sometimes I see a group of kids that pay the $1 and sneak in spray paint and use the tools they bring in to bust windshields and screw stuff up. I almost wanna say somethin to them every time I see them

What junkyards allow you to buy the whole car? I want to save something

 

It didnt have the 145 mph speedo.If it did I would have grabbed it for sure.It had a 115 mph.The gauges were still intact.It was a 5 speed car but of course the trans was already gone.I did take the tach since it had the higher reving 5500 redline.

That might be true for you but for me just seeing a 3rd gen vert in that condition is really sad.Especially when vert parts are so hard to come by.I was just bummed that someone else got to it before me and took just about all the vert specific parts...

 

wow compared to the places in NJ those pics look like they belong on a showroom floor. here at the u pull it its free but the camaro lot is kinda sad. they are completly torn down. top to bottom. they would take what they wanted and break everything else so noone can get what they want. people had caught on and started buyin and sellin them on ebay. not to mention NJ is like the camaro capitol of the world.

 

What yards do you go to in NJ?Ive been to a few and have had fairly good luck finding camaro parts

 

What JY's do you go to, all the one's I've been to in the NE Phila area have very few if any 3rd gens, I'm wondering if you know of any good ones I should check out?

 

Yeah. I know right? I went to a small hillbilly one yesterday and he wouldnt let me go in and asked me what I wanted. I told him I was looking for interior but only wanted it if it was in nice shaoe and the color I wanted. He said he didnt want to have to pay someone to go in with me if I wasnt going to get something for sure (in a rude tone of voice). So I pretty much told the guy where to shove his parts.

Most of the time those cars dont even have anything but salvage titles so they can sell the cars to the junkyards

 

I cant stand the junkyards that ask what you are looking for and wont let you walk around.I always say im looking for misc interior trim but some places want to know exactly what parts you want.Those are the places I dont go back to.

 

There arent alot of u pull it yards in philly that I know of.There are a few by the airport on passyunk ave.Most of the yards I go to are outside the city or in NJ & MD.What yards have you been to?

 

Ahhh you're down that end ive been to a few up here, u-pull-it in morrisville (went back after not goin for a few years, 0 third gens and the yards half the size it was) Al's in Trevose which is good but not a u-pull it so prices can get steep and Yales in Feasterville and they're hit or miss but like you said not too many around that let you go it and pull stuff yourself... looks like i'll have to take a road trip to find some good parts or just stick w/ the classified board here

 

Actually Im in northeast philly.I go to u pull it in morrisville but not as much as I used to.There are alot of ebayers who go there looking for parts to sell cause the prices are so cheap.I know quite a few of them personally so you have to be very lucky to get anything good.They did however have a few 3rd gens recently.At any rate that is why I travel alot to other yards so I can have better luck.What part of Jersey are you from?I know of some u pull it yards throughout NJ.Where is yales?I never heard of it.Is it a u pull it yard?

 

Just went again today. They actually got a new one in same day but it started raining! I got the dash with 1 cracked speaker grill, RS emblems for the hell of it, crappy shift plate to chop for my megashifter, rear right seat bottom, and b pillar trim for someone I know
Also picked up a couple radios
Had to wire down all my tools with wd-40 when I got back. Wasnt very fun as I bring a big tool box packed to the top and a full ratchet set with me

 

Yeah, the West Hazelton location.

 

Havent been to hazelton in a few months.Was at the allentown location yesterday.The new F bodies there were a 93-97 Firebird Convertible and a 91 RS Camaro that had a 91-92 Z28 High Rise Spoiler.Needless to say I did get the spoiler

 

The only one I go to is the one in WH since its the largest. However, I've been wanting to go to the Allentown one as I hear they have better cars. Hows the Thirdgen shopping there?

 

Allentown is the smallest of the 3 Harrys yards.I go to allentown about once a month.Out of the 3 Harrys locations I seem to have the best luck there.They usually only have a few fbody cars (3rd or 4th gens) but it appears that they dont get picked over too quickly or else I just go there at the right time.

 

I'm in northeast philly as well, actually far northeast (somerton 19116) yales is up bustleton/bridgetown towards st marys hospital, but i was at u-pull-it in morrisville last month and compared to what it was about 5yrs ago there was nothing there, you no longer have to pay to get in and the yard as half the size it used to be.

 

Oh ok.......I used to work at somerton beverage up until they just recently sold it

in Malta there are only few f bodies and for sure you cant find 1 in a junk yard!!

any 1 can help me from were i can find a transmission mount for an 1989 camaro rs originally with 2.8 v6

I dont have any pics but the junkyard I go to has ROWS of 3rd gens in it, thats where I get a lot of goodies for my Bird.

Cresent U-Pull it in Morrisville? There is another one down the road from there (the name escapes me) but the last time I was there, it was riddled with thirdgen TPI cars. I am also from Northeast Philly/ Feasterville area. Still have some family there but now I live up past Wilkes Barre and Harry's in West Hazleton is a stones throw away. -Bob

 

Yeah the U Pull It on Tyburn Rd, I didn't know there was another one down there I'll have to check it out.

 

The name of that yard is pic a part.Its right around the corner from Crecent u pull it.They do have a fair amount of fbody cars 3rd & 4th gens but alot of them have been there for quite some time.Needless to say they are fairly picked over

 

Any of you guys know of any yards on the other side of PA where you can pull your own parts? I haven't been able to find any near me that will let me in the yard. Found a couple with 3rdgen parts, but very limited selection. I'm about 2 hours east of Pittsburgh near Johnstown. With gas prices the way they are, I might as well buy stuff new or on Ebay if I have to drive the 4 hours it takes for me to get near Philly in a truck.

 

Tose pics brought a tear to my eye. No wonder wat happen to all or most of the F-body cars.

I have a huge truck and trailer and it looks Im going part/car hunting
