LED Interior Kits

Found something a little interesting on eBay while I was browsing around. Figured I'd share it.

That's why I figured I'd share it. Just something to slap into your car for fun times when there's really nothing left to do to the interior. Haha.

Re: LED Interior Kits

I think LEDs are cool...when "tastefully" done. I bought about a 100pc set of red LEDs off ebay (super cheap) and have them wired up in the interior. I have some in the door handle bezels (behind/under the door handle) so it lights up the handle well. I have some in all the vents in the dash. I think it looks nice at night, seems like a glowing furnace. I also have some in the back speakers and inside the amp and subs. Its all red. I stayed with red because my dash lighting is orange....

Re: LED Interior Kits

honestly that kit that you linked to is just some leds with wires, no fancy looking bar or anything. one could go to radioshack and buy the leds and stuff for cheaper than what the Ebay listing is. Or you could go the route that HCR13 did and buy them in bulk then wire them up. I will be doing so in the future myself for that nice cool ice look. Good find none the less. I ove seeing lit up F-bodys that look tasteful.

Re: LED Interior Kits

I'd like to see someone with a lit up car like HCR13 did, but in blue. I'm thinking of doing it in my Trans Am.

Can you post us some pics, HCR13?

Re: LED Interior Kits

I would love to see pix of how his turned out, maybe even give me some ideas for placing the blue ones im going to put in. I was going to go with the vents, and floorboard and put some in the engine bay to shine threw my hood I like the door latch area idea too.

Re: LED Interior Kits

I have the daytona hood and would like to put some near the vents in it so they glow blue at night. Door Handles, Vents, Dash, Gauges, Floorboards... lots of ideas for me. Haha. I just want to see someone with a finished result so I know what direction to start.

Re: LED Interior Kits

im not too familliar with the lighting in the gauges of our cars but i did run across some LEDS that were modified to work with some of the setups like my wifes saturn that requires small light bulbs. was pretty interesting.

I have the IROC daytona/turbo hood (not too sure what the technical name is i have seen it a few different ways) and want the light to shine threw that puppy lol

Same here. My vents on the sides are actually open and functional unlike most of the hoods... haha. If I can't get LED's in the dash then I'll just replace the bulbs with blue bulbs and put LEDs everywhere else.

i just go to our local auto store and get a mesh grill kit and make some of ur own i have the same hood and thats what i have it looks great.. i dont have a good pic but i can take one next time i go to the storage building i want to put red leds mine. im also going to totally smooth out the inside (mines fiberglass) and put a mirror affect on the underside of the raised part of the cowl. i have lots of chrome under my hood and it think it will look great lit up at night from the inside of the car

Re: LED Interior Kits

That sounds awesome. I think I might go with somewhat of a similar approach. The inside of mine is all ruff and stuff too (also fiberglass) so I'm going to smooth it out definately.

Re: LED Interior Kits

I'll take some pictures tonight and see how they turn out. I thought about putting some LEDs on my cowl aswell, but didn't do it because I wouldn't want a red glow in my face all the time. But now that I think about it, I think I'll wire it on a separate circuit so I can turn it on/off at car shows or when parked and off when driving... I also thought about putting LEDs in the fender vents of my Trans Am. I tried it, but it didn't look as good as I thought. The vent is actually smaller than it looks. I have a small module that lets you adjust the lighting so it'll glow/pulse/strobe, etc. I think eventually I'll hook that up and hook up lights in the vents and cowl and have a fade so it looks like the engine is "breathing"...

Re: LED Interior Kits

Ok, sorry for the delay. I took a few pics. I'll admit that it looks a lot better in person than on pics. Its hard to take pictures of "red glows" with a digital camera...
1st pic is 4led's surrounding the window switches in the ashtray part of my 4th gen center console...

2nd pic is a widangle led shinning right behind the interior passenger door handle/bezel

3rd pic is the driver side interior door handle/bezel

Re: LED Interior Kits

1st pic is led insight the air vent. It looks like that on all 3 airvents..

2nd pic leds in the rear 6x9 speakers. I actually glued 4 leds in the speaker grille, so that way the bulbs shine into the speaker...

3rd is a shot of the passenger side. Exterior shot of the rear tire and a led strip under the door handle on the outside...

Re: LED Interior Kits

not difficult at all if you know how to take the interior apart. As far a wiring, since LEDs take up extremely little voltage/amperage, you can find any wire thats hot when you want it (as in, all the time, ign only, or when lights are on) and just tap into that. You can ground to any metal surface. What I did for most int, was tap to the buttons on the dash, just found the wire thats hot when the lights are on...
