I have one from a '91 RS. That might work for you, if you're anywhere near the Olympic Peninsula.

most should interchange , there is a difference between man. trans. & auto trans. columns . you may have to swap some brackets . stay away from airbags if you can . i swapped an 89 into an 88 and had to swap auto trans cable stuff over . remember cruise & wiper sw. , make sure they are the same . not a bad job , but a PITA . good luck .

Well, it depends if you want the exact column or just one that will work. 1989 was a one year only column because it was the first years for VATS but the last year with no airbag. So if you want to keep everything working the way it should you need a column from an '89. However, the '84-'88 columns are identical to the 1989 column except they don't have the chip in the key. You can put in an '84-'88 column but you will have to disable your VATS system or the car won't start. Also, if you find a column from an '89 you need to get the VATS module along with it because it needs to match the chip in the key. On an '89 it will be in the dash to the right of the column and just above and to the left of the radio. It's not easy to get to!!! It will be a black or gray box that will say Passkey on it.
