Horn Cam?

What is the technical name for this part? Is it the horn contact canceling cam? As you can see from the picture the post is broken and therefore no contact for the horn. Where can I find a replacement for it?

Thanks!!!!!!

Re: Horn Cam?

I bought mine from First Source auto parts, I forget the name of it but they had it on the wall. It seems to be pretty standard for GM's. Sometimes AutoZone has it in the help section, but you have to be careful and buy the correct one or you will have a heck of a time putting the steering column back together.

Re: Horn Cam?

Thanks, I finally had to go to the Chevy dealer. I walked into AutoZone and both of the guys working there said "What is that?" lol...I knew I was in trouble...

Re: Horn Cam?

I dunno whether this is the same part but I replaced my stock airbag steering wheel from my '90 RS with a Grant wheel about a month ago and there's some little plastic tube that's supposed to go over the spring with the wire in it to connect the power to the horn, and on the little plastic tube there's some small sort of like dowel pin to locate it in in the steering wheel column, because with the steering wheel the spring is under pressure and needs to be held in with the plastic tube provided. But the inside of locater was cracked and I just had to stuff a small folded piece of paper inside the hole along with the plastic tube to provide resistance so it doesn't just slide off. It's worked fine.

I guess that's cheaper than the $30 for the part, mine was cracked at the top as well. After tearing apart the steering column I can't understand how they get cracked to begin with.

Re: Horn Cam?

According to this diagram, from the service manual, it is called the "Turn Signal Canceling Cam Assembly..."
